MOSCOW, June 25. /TASS/. Russia’s government has finalized the main parameters of a new version of ‘special investment contracts’ at a meeting attended by First Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Anton Siluanov, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Kozak and Presidential Aide Andrei Belousov on Monday, June 25, a source participating in the meeting told TASS.

The new format stipulates that producers of prime goods for the Russian market will be able to enter into ‘special investment contracts’.

“The government had a meeting on June 25, where a position was staked out on key parameters of ‘special investment contracts’. The position that dominated was promoted earlier by Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Kozak, and envisions ‘special investment contracts’ allowed only on public tender results regarding projects producing unique goods in Russia, as well as constructing and upgrading manufacturers of high-tech products,” the source said.

A representative of Deputy PM Kozak confirmed that the meeting had been held.

The mechanism of ‘special investment contracts’ developed by the Industry and Trade Ministry together with the Economic Development Ministry primarily for industrial projects, was enforced in 2015. Local or foreign companies, as well as individual entrepreneurs, can enter into such contracts with an authorized executive authority (Ministry of Industry and Trade, regional government). In exchange for the obligation to invest in a particular industrial project, they can particularly receive tax preferences in the form of a full exemption from the property tax or a reduction in the rate of income tax to 0% (it reaches 20% by default), as well as receive guarantees of non-taxation load for the contract period.

However, in a move to ‘restart’ Russia’s investment cycle, the government has decided to expand the number of sectors covered by the mechanism. Vedomosti business daily wrote that the Finance Ministry and the Economic Development Ministry have agreed an option envisioning state subsidies provided for investors using the ‘special investment contracts’ instrument, totaling up to 50% of their capital expenditures. Both ministries share the view that preferences should be extended to producers of goods unique in Russia, and those making products going for export and yielding at least 15% of retu

Boeing, Bamboo Airways Announce Commitment for 20 787 Dreamliners

Commitment marks first widebody airplanes for the Vietnamese startup airline

WASHINGTONJune 25, 2018 /PRNewswire/ — Boeing (NYSE: BA) and Bamboo Airways today announced a commitment for 20 787-9 Dreamliners in deal that would be worth $5.6B at current list prices, when finalized. The announcement was made during a signing ceremony at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce office, witnessed by Vuong Dinh Hue, deputy prime minister of Vietnam, and Nazak Nikakhtar, Assistant Secretary for Industry and Analysis, U.S. Department of Commerce, International Trade Administration.

As part of the agreement, Bamboo Airways completed the deposit requirement in mid-June to reserve the 20 airplanes, which are tentatively schedule to deliver from April 2020 through 2021.

Bamboo Airways is a startup airline that plans to begin commercial operations in 2019 out of the capital city of Hanoi. The carrier plans to offer flights within Vietnambefore expanding into other Northeast Asian markets such as China, Korea and Japan. “We are delighted to welcome Bamboo Airways to the Boeing family and we look forward to Bamboo joining the growing group of global airlines that fly the 787 Dreamliner,” said Mr Dinesh Keskar, senior vice president of Asia Pacific and India Sales, Boeing Commercial Airplanes. “We are confident that the 787 will help launch Bamboo’s long-haul operations and serve as the foundation of their success for many years to come.”

The 787 Dreamliner is an all-new, super-efficient family of commercial airplanes. Since 2011, more than 690 Dreamliners have been delivered to operators, flying over 255 million people on more than 680 unique routes around the world, saving an estimated 25 billion pounds of fuel.

At 20 feet (6 meters) longer than the 787-8, the 787-9 extends the family in capacity and range, flying more passengers and more cargo farther. The airplane can fly 290 passengers, in a typical two-class configuration, up to 7,635 nautical miles (14,140 km).

Bamboo Airways is wholly-owned by the FLC Group, a Vietnamese multi-industry company, focusing on aviation, real estate, resorts, farming, and golf.

Boeing Announces Additional $350,000 Grant to “A Better Chance” Nonprofit Partner

NEW YORKJune 22, 2018 /PRNewswire/ — Boeing (NYSE: BA) recently announced an additional grant award of $350,000 to “A Better Chance” (ABC) – a nonprofit organization working to increase the number of well-educated young minorities in the United States. Grant dollars will help fund the College Preparatory Schools Program (CPSP) and Alumni Relations program.

“This additional investment, along with our previously announced commitment, will help lift up our young people and in turn improve our local communities,” said Tim Keating, executive vice president of Government Operations at Boeing. “Our relationship with ABC is stronger than ever, and we hope this show of support enables the organization to further its impact, bringing educational equity to children across the county.”

Boeing’s contribution will support programs that increase the number of minority students placed into high-performing college preparatory schools, enabling them to pursue positions of responsibility and leadership in American society. 50 years ago, on 06/26/1968, Varig inaugurated the Brazil-Japan route @Voe_Varig

It was an event that reverberated in Brazil and Japan. Inherited from Real Aerovias, which never operated, the flight took off from Rio de Janeiro, Galeão airport, landed in Lima, Peru, Los Angeles and Anchorage, the United States to refuel and Tokyo was the final destination.

The route was a success from the beginning and things got better when Varig left the Boeing 707 and flew with the DC-10-30 in the year 1974. The flight started to be operated this way: Rio de Janeiro-Los Angeles-Tokyo.

In the following decade, it was operated in the direction of Rio de Janeiro-Sao Paulo-Los Angeles-Tokyo with Boeing 747. The profitability of the flight started to justify the increase of frequencies from 3 to 5 per week and then to daily.

Japan Airlines has agreed to daily flights since Varig to Tokyo on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays and Nagoya on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Varig readily accepted.

In 1998, the route to Japan began to be operated with the MD-11 due to the departure of the company’s Boeing 747. In the United States-Japan stretch, the plane made an arc, passing the US West Coast, Alaska, Russia and the two Koreas on the right side, and the flight lasted between 11 and 12 hours.

The Japan-United States stretch was made straight because the winds helped and lasted between 9 and 10 hours.

On September 11, 2001, two Varig MD-11s were flying in the direction of Los Angeles. One had left Brazil and another from Nagoya. Both had to deviate after the closing of the American airspace. The one that left Brazil in Tijuana (Mexico) and another one returned to Nagoya.

The September 11 attack affected the profitability of the Brazil-Japan flight because the United States began to require a transit visa for all passengers passing through any US airport, even if it did not leave the airliner.

Those who wanted to travel to Japan, started to do so in Europe, where such a requirement does not exist.

The Brazil-Japan route, which was considered Varig’s “gold mine”, became a difficult-to-carry cross. Varig tried unsuccessfully to operate that flight, making a stopover in Switzerland. The rate of overflight in Russian airspace and the ill will of the Japanese caused the company to give up the flight that would be operated in this way: Rio de Janeiro-Sao Paulo-Geneva-Tokyo and Rio de Janeiro-Sao Paulo-Geneva-Nagoya.

On January 14, 2004, Varig made the last flight to Nagoya and, exactly two years later, on January 14, 2006, made the last flight to Tokyo.

Foi um acontecimento que repercutiu no Brasil e no Japão . Herdada da Real Aerovias , que nunca a operou , o voo decolava do Rio de Janeiro , aeroporto do Galeão , pousava em Lima , no Peru , Los Angeles e Anchorage , Estados Unidos para reabastecer e Tóquio era o destino final .

A rota foi um sucesso desde o começo e as coisas melhoraram quando a Varig deixou o Boeing 707 e passou a voar com o DC-10-30 no ano de 1974 . O voo passou a ser operado dessa maneira : Rio de Janeiro-Los Angeles-Tóquio .

Na década seguinte , passou a ser operada no sentido Rio de Janeiro-São Paulo-Los Angeles-Tóquio com Boeing 747. A lucratividade do voo passou a justificar o aumento de freqüências de 3 para 5 por semana e depois a ser diário .

A Japan Airlines concordou com os voos diários desde que a Varig operasse para Tóquio às terças , quintas , sábados e domingos e Nagoya , às segundas , quartas e sextas-feiras . A Varig aceitou prontamente .

Em 1998 , a rota para o Japão passou a ser operada com o MD-11 por conta da saída do Boeing 747 da empresa . No trecho Estados Unidos – Japão, o avião fazia um arco , passando pela costa oeste estadunidense , Alasca , Rússia e as duas Coreias ao lado direito e o voo durava entre 11 e 12 horas .

O trecho Japão-Estados Unidos era feita em linha reta porque os ventos ajudavam e durava entre 9 e 10 horas .

No dia 11 de setembro de 2001 , dois MD-11 da Varig estavam voando na direção de Los Angeles . Um tinha saído do Brasil e outro de Nagoya . Ambos tiveram que desviar após o fechamento do espaço aéreo estadunidense . O que saiu do Brasil em Tijuana(México) e outro voltou a Nagoya .

O atentado de 11 de setembro afetou a lucratividade do voo Brasil-Japão porque os Estados Unidos passaram a exigir o visto de trânsito de todos os passageiros que passassem por algum aeroporto estadunidense , mesmo que não saísse para fora do aérodromo .

Quem queria viajar ao Japão , passou a fazê-lo pela Europa , onde tal exigência não existe .

A rota Brasil-Japão , que foi considerada a “mina de ouro” da Varig virou uma cruz difícil de ser carregada . A Varig tentou , sem sucesso , operar esse voo , fazendo uma escala na Suíça . A taxa de sobrevoo no espaço aéreo russo e a má vontade dos japoneses fizeram a empresa desistir do voo que seria operado desta maneira : Rio de Janeiro-São Paulo-Genebra-Tóquio e Rio de Janeiro-São Paulo-Genebra-Nagoya .

Em 14 de janeiro de 2004 , a Varig fez pela última vez o voo para Nagoya e exatos 2 anos depois , em 14 de janeiro de 2006 , fez pela última vez , o voo para Tóquio .
