An allegedly unlicensed woman accused of driving an unregistered car along a busy Brisbane pedestrian boardwalk has been charged with drink driving.

The 40-year-old woman was stopped after driving onto the riverside pedestrian and cycle path at South Bank about 6.50pm.

It was alleged the woman was three times the legal drink-driving limit when she drove about 85 kilometres from her Atkinsons Dam home in the Somerset region, west of Brisbane, before getting onto the boardwalk.

The path, near the Kurilpa Bridge in the city’s cultural precinct, was busy with pedestrians and cyclists at the time, according to police.

She allegedly recorded a breath test showing a blood-alcohol level of 0.153.

The woman was taken to the Brisbane Watchhouse and given a notice to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on February 13 on charges of drink driving, driving without a licence and driving an unregistered vehicle.
