Finance Ministry of Uzbekistan fires over 500 employees

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — About 560 employees of the Ministry of Finance of Uzbekistan were fired after the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev criticized the body, UzA reported.

Heads of territorial divisions are instructed to clear their ranks from impure and incompetent financial workers who enjoyed the protection of the former finance minister and former head of the HR department.

On 23 December, the head of the Tashkent City Department of State Financial Supervision and three of his deputies were dismissed.

After 273 employees (including 23 heads) of financial departments in the regions, 65 employees (including 12 heads) of the Treasury departments, 100 employees (including 1 head) of the Pension Fund, 100 employees (including 4 managers) of the state financial supervision departments were dismissed by the heads of the territorial departments of the Ministry of Finance. In total, 562 employees of the financial system were dismissed from their posts.

The Ministry plans to hire young professional to fill the existing vacancies.

Private companies receive right to carry out inspection of automobile of individuals

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Starting from 1 January 2018, private companies in Uzbekistan received right to carry out inspection of technical conditions of automobiles of individuals.
On 22 December, the Government of Uzbekistan issued a resolution “On additional measures to improve procedure for mandatory technical inspection of vehicles”.

The document said that starting from 1 January 2018, it is planned to transfer the functions of the units of the State Road Safety Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Uzbekistan (SRSS) to legal entities in part of the mandatory technical inspection of cars.

At the same time, the SRSS subdivisions will retain the functions of technical inspection of cargo, passenger and special vehicles.

According to the document, from 1 January 2019, compulsory technical inspection of cars of individuals will be carried out by business entities – legal entities.

To carry out the inspection, private companies will have to have an accredited “Uzstandard” production and technical base with the necessary equipment.

The government instructed the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Finance to review, before 15 January 2018, the size of payments for mandatory inspection. The government instructed to introduce differentiated rates for legal entities and individuals, taking into account the vehicle category.

Uzbek leader attends CIS informal summit

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 26 December2017, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev attended the informal meeting of the Council of the Heads of States of the Commonwealth of Independent States, in Moscow.

The President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin met the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev at Novo-Ogarevo residence, the press service of the Uzbek President said.

After the photographing ceremony, a meeting of the heads of the CIS member states began.

Vladimir Putin, welcoming the heads of states, told about the results of Russia’s presidency in the CIS. He noted that this year important activity was implemented on strengthening mutual integration and enhancing the credibility of the organization.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted that this year cooperation of Uzbekistan with the CIS countries has become even stronger, the volume of trade turnover has significantly increased, emphasized that mutually beneficial cooperation closely connects the member states, this meeting will give a new impetus to the development of these relations.

It was noted that the upcoming events in Russia in 2018 are of great importance, people of Russia will vote for a worthy candidate at the presidential elections.

At the meeting, attention was paid to issues of development of cooperation between the Commonwealth states in various spheres, strengthening security, preventing risks and threats to the region.

As it is known, Uzbekistan is actively cooperating within the framework of the CIS. The interaction of our country with the member states of this organization is consistently developing in various areas. The Head of our state attended the meeting of the Council of the Heads of States of the CIS member states that was held on October 10-11, 2017, in Sochi. On November 3, a meeting of the Council of Heads of Governments was held in Tashkent.

In the Address of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Oliy Majlis, the priorities of our state in foreign policy were emphasized. It was noted that our country continues to develop relations with foreign states, including the CIS countries, at a new stage. Relations with neighboring countries has strengthened according to the principle of “Central Asia – the main priority in foreign policy of Uzbekistan”. This plays an important role in development of cooperation within the framework of the Commonwealth.

At the meeting, views were also exchanged on other issues of mutual interest.

Lavrentiev: Only Syrians can decide their country’s future

Moscow, SANA-Head of the Russian delegation to Astana meetings on Syria, Alexander Lavrentiev said that it is no longer possible to delay holding the Syrian National Dialogue Congress in Sochi.

“We talked a lot yesterday and today with our partners from the guarantor states on holding dialogue as we agreed and confirmed our strong intention to contribute to holding the Congress on January, 29-30,” Lavrentiev told Sputnik Agency in an interview.

He indicated that it is no longer possible to delay the Congress’s date, particularly that it will contribute to developing the talks in Geneva.

Lavrentiev stressed the need to sit to the dialogue table by representatives of  all the spectrums of the Syrian people, welcoming any efforts by the international community to contribute to settling the crisis in Syria, affirming that these efforts “should be exerted in the right direction.”

He criticized the international community for not exerting the required efforts to solve the crisis.

Lavrentiev clarified that Moscow will not practice any pressure on the participants in the Syrian National Dialogue Congress when making their decisions, adding that “We provide a platform, and the most important thing for us is that the congress will be comprehensive.”

He confirmed that the future of the Syrian people is in the hands of the Syrians themselves and they are the only ones who decide what should be done.

Legal status of 164 persons from Aleppo and Deir Ezzor settled

Aleppo, SANA- Some 164 persons from Aleppo and Deir Ezzor countryside have had their legal status settled on Wednesday in Aleppo.

The settlement came within the framework of local reconciliations and after they pledged to not get involved in any act that affects the security of the homeland.

Al-Attar: Syria will continue struggle in defense of Arab nation

Damascus, SANA- Vice President Dr. Najah al-Attar affirmed on Wednesday that Syria will continue its national struggle in defense of its unity and sovereignty and the issues of the Arab nation, especially the Palestinian cause.

During a meeting with an Egyptian parliamentary popular delegation, led by Dr. Jamal Zahran, al-Attar said that historical ties that bring together Syria and Egypt cannot be affected despite the circumstances.

She stressed that resistance is a legitimate right of the nation in the face of colonialism and the Zionist entity, hoping that Egypt will eliminate the terrorist groups that targeting its people.

In turn, Zahran pointed out that the delegation’s visit aims at congratulating Syria in the victories it has achieved and to convey the true of image of what is happening in Syria it to the Egyptian public opinion.

The members of the delegation stressed on the need to restore diplomatic relations fully between Egypt and Syria.
