Syria strongly condoms US-led coalition massacres against civilians in Deir Ezzor

Flag of Syria.svg

Damascus, SANA-Syria strongly condemned the crimes committed by the US-led “international coalition” against Syrian civilians in Deir Ezzor.

The condemnation came in a letter sent on Thursday by the Foreign and Expatriates Ministry to the UN Secretary-General and the President of the Security Council on the new massacre committed by the US-led “international coalition” in the village of al-Jurze Sharqi in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor province.

The Ministry said that the US-led coalition, who committed this horrible crime, had always pretended to fight Daesh (ISIS) terrorist organization while the fact is that this coalition transferred terrorists to secured sites, adding that eradicating Daesh was achieved by Syrian Arab Army and its allies.

In the letter, the Ministry also condemned turning a blind eye for the massacres committed by the “international coalition” in the provinces of Raqqa and Deir Ezzor by those who claim concern about the rule of law, human rights and international humanitarian law.

The Ministry said that the success of Syrian Arab Army and its allies in eradicating Daesh (ISIS) terrorist organization and expelling it from the main cities in Deir Ezzor has foiled the attempts of the coalition who had always pretended to fight Daesh while the fact is that this coalition transferred terrorists to secured sites.

The letter read that Syria considers the countries which take part in this coalition as connivers in its crimes and massacres if they didn’t distance themselves from such acts, noting to the suspicious and dangerous role of this coalition in supporting terrorism and attacking the Syrian people which is confirmed by the recent events and many reports and aerial photos that prove the deals and coordination between the coalition and its militias on the ground on the one hand and Daesh on the other.

The Ministry concluded its letter by saying that the UN Security Council has not yet taken any action to stop the coalition’s attacks on the Syrian Arab Republic and the innocent civilian population of the region as a result of the misleading practiced by the United States and its allies who falsely claim that they are fighting Daesh while the truth shows the opposite.

On Wednesday, the aircrafts of the US-led coalition bombarded the residential neighborhoods of al-Jurze Sharqi village in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor province, calming the lives of 23 civilians, 8 children and 6 women among them, and causing massive destruction to locals’ properties and the village’s infrastructure.

Al-Jaafari: No direct talks would be held with preconditions

Flag of Syria.svg

Geneva, SANA-Head of the Syrian Arab Republic delegation to the 8th round of intra-Syrian dialogue, Dr. Bashar al-Jaafari, said that the delegation discussed the issue of combating terrorism as the basic approach to deal with all other baskets during this round of talks.

“The eighth round of the talks has ended and we, as a delegation of the Syrian Arab Republic, made an intensive effort to come out with a positive outcome. In view of our conviction of what is taking place on the ground of a terrorist war, we proposed talking about terrorism as a main point because the fight against terrorism is the basic entrance to deal with all other baskets,” al-Jaafari said in a press conference following a session of talks held with UN Special Envoy to Syria.

“We hope the operators of the other delegation will benefit from this opportunity to direct members of this delegation, which has called itself as al-Riyadh delegation, to cancel al-Riyadh 2 statement because we made it clear from the beginning that as long as this statement exists, we will not engage in direct dialogue with them. Anyway, we will wait for the results of the efforts of the operators of the other delegation because the operators know very well that the Syrian government will not accept dialogue in the presence of any precondition. Of course we mean that al-Riyadh 2 statement is a precondition for the talks,” al-Jaafari added.

In response to a question about the coincidence of terrorist attacks in Syria with the start of each round of Geneva, al-Jaafari said that the operators of the armed terrorist groups are themselves the operators of the other party in Geneva and have been sending bloody messages to influence the Geneva sessions and events.

“At the beginning of our meeting today, we focused with de Mistura on the terrorist acts that took place during the past two days in Syria,” al-Jaafrai said.

In reference to de Mistura’s recent statements, al-Ja’afari said “al-Riyadh statement was intended to move us from the diplomatic process to the political process, but we found a new stance represented by proposing preconditions by the operators of the other delegation.

As the preconditions that were accompanying all rounds of dialogue in Geneva and made this path retreat in front of Astana and Sochi tracks, Jaafari said “we will judge this talk through the positions of the operators of the other delegation and their commitment to the agenda of the Geneva talks.”

On the allegations made by the opposition delegation that it arrived in Geneva without preconditions, al-Jaafari said that those who drafted the Riyadh 2 statement meant to undermine Geneva process by setting preconditions, adding that “the operators of the other parties; I mean, the Saudi authorities and their Western operators do not want Geneva process to succeed…Syria as a state won’t accept any terrorist blackmail that would influence the political course of the Geneva talks.”

“Russia is a key ally for Syria in the fight against terrorism; al-Jaafari affirmed, adding “the Syrian government has said since the beginning of the course of Geneva that there are two tracks which don’t affect each other, combating terrorism and the political track. We don’t’ want the Geneva process to fail, so we have been engaged in serious talks during eight rounds with the UN delegation.”

Al-Jaafari noted that the UN Special Envoy will present a briefing to UN Security Council next Tuesday and the Syrian government will determine its attitude regarding his authority in the light of what he will say in the briefing.

He affirmed that when the Syrian delegation notice any fault in the performance of the UN Special envoy, we tell him this speech directly, adding “We tell him what we think and what we believe in a transparent and diplomatic way.”

“We do not put preconditions, but we oppose proposing any preconditions,” he said, stressing that the Syrian government does not accept imposing a fait accompli on it by anyone.

He pointed out that to fight terrorism in a legal way, this requires cooperating with the Syrian government rather than relying on an illegal foreign military presence on the Syrian territory, meaning the illegal US military presence, stressing that the fight against Daesh (ISIS) terrorist organization is a duty of all national forces in Syria.

As for Sochi conference, Al-Jaafari said that the framework that will outline the Syrian National Dialogue Congress in Sochi is completely different from the framework in which the meetings of Geneva and Astana were held, pointing out that the Riyadh 2 statement needs to be canceled in order to hold any direct dialogue with the delegation of the so-called “opposition” in addition to forming a unified delegation in implementation of UNSC resolution no.2254.

Earlier, the Syrian Arab Republic delegation, headed by Dr. Bashar al-Jaafari, on Thursday held fourth session of talks with de Mistura.

Over the past three days, The Syrian Arab Republic delegation held three sessions of talks with de Mistura in framework of the second stage of the 8th round of the intra-Syrian dialogue.

The first stage of the 8th round of the intra-Syrian dialogue was concluded on December 1 st.

In a press conference at the end of the 1st stage, al-Jaafari affirmed there are those who seek to derail the Geneva talks by trying to impose preconditions, pointing out that the statement of the “Riyadh 2” group aimed at undermining the chances of a successful dialogue in Geneva, which is totally unacceptable.

Rouhani: Iran ready to unconditionally cooperate to defend Quds

Flag of Iran.svg

December 13, 2017

TEHRAN – President Hassan Rouhani said on Wednesday that Iran is ready to cooperate unconditionally with all Muslim nations to defend al-Quds (Jerusalem).

Rouhani made the remarks in a speech to the leaders of the 57 Islamic nations who have gathered in Istanbul, Turkey, to decide about the recognition of al-Quds as the capital of Israel by U.S. President Donald Trump.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran stands ready to cooperate with each one of the Muslim countries to defend the holy Quds without any reservation or pre-condition,” Rouhani told the emergency summit of the Islamic Cooperation Organization.

Following is full text of his speech published by president.ir:

I would like to begin with appreciating the efforts of my dear brother His Excellency Recep Tayyip Erdogan for organizing this very significant meeting. We have gathered here to exchange views on the appalling tragedy and the old wound of the Muslim Ummah in the last one hundred years which began with the Balfour conspiracy and is now experiencing a new chapter with the incorrect and unlawful promise of the U.S. President to move the American Embassy to the holy city of Quds.
Today we speak about Quds which is the first Qiblah of Muslims and the third holiest Islamic shrine and is used to recognize the identity and credibility of Palestine. The uprising of the tireless people of Palestine during the past several days against the United States and the Zionist occupiers once again demonstrated that Palestinians would not pin their hope on empty plans and instead are insisting on their righteous demands.
The Muslim states fortunately were quick in reacting to the approach of the U.S. administration towards the Quds City. And the formation of this summit indicates the correct interpretation by Muslims of the incorrect act of the U.S. President.

Distinguished brothers and sisters,

Through every possible means, we should join hands to prevent the enforcement of such an unintelligent U.S. act. However, we should also investigate what elements and reasons emboldened the U.S. President to take such a rude and sacrilegious decision.
I believe that other than any other reason, the efforts of some countries to establish relations and even consultation and coordination with the Zionist regime have incited such a decision.
Instead of countering the threats of the Zionists, some countries in our region are aligned with the U.S. and Zionists to prescribe the fate of Palestine. If such prescriptions are taken, the Zionists would permanently dominate the Palestinians.
Today it is no secret that the biggest enemy of the Jews are not the Muslims and Arabs but the dangerous project of Zionism. We Muslims, Christians and the Jews are the historical owners of this region. The Zionists however are stranger here and have imposed themselves on this region. The Zionists have in fact planted the seeds of terrorism and violence in this region since the beginning years of the past century.
During the past several decades, the Zionist regime has been responsible for the killing and displacement of Palestinians while disrespecting Islamic sanctity in Palestine. In committing all such crimes and murders, the United States has been supporting the Zionists with its veto power in the Security Council of the United Nations and has spared no effort in supplying all kinds of destructive weapons to the Zionist regime. Unfortunately, the United States was chosen as an arbitrator for years in negotiations. Or they sought the support of the U.S. and relied on it for mediation.
The United States has never been an honest mediator. And it will never be. The recent act by the U.S. administration made it clear for the people who wished a positive role by the U.S. in resolving the issue of Palestine that the U.S. is only seeking to secure the maximum interests of the Zionists and consider no respect for the legitimate demands of Palestinians.

Mr Chair,

In order to counter such oppressive and low-minded measures, it is necessary to take lessons from the past. Therefore, I take the opportunity to propose the following actions:
1- It is necessary for this summit to strongly condemn the recent decision by the U.S. administration to recognize al-Quds as the capital of the Zionist regime and move its embassy to the holy Quds.

If we suffer from differences amongst ourselves over some issues, we should not be divided on defending the holy Quds and the Palestinian cause.
2- Under the present circumstances, it is necessary for the Muslim world to get united against the Zionist regime. If we suffer from differences amongst ourselves over some issues, we should not be divided on defending the holy Quds and the Palestinian cause. All the problems of the Muslim world can be resolved through dialogue. It is only through Islamic unity that we can better support the rights of the Islamic Ummah and the holy Quds.

3- The U.S. administration should be aware of the reality that the world of Islam does not remain indifferent towards the fate of Palestine and the holy Quds. And that ridiculing international approvals and ideas of nearly all the international community on the issue of Palestine would have political repercussions and costs.
4- It is imperative on the Muslim states to harmonize their protest to the recent U.S. decision in their talks with America’s partners especially European countries and emphasize on the necessity to stand against such a decision.
5- The issue of Palestine should once again be placed top on the agenda of the Muslim world. With the defeat of Daesh in Iraq and Syria and the necessity of continuing the fight against other terrorist groups, we should not forget the dangers of the Zionist regime including its nuclear warheads which is a threat to the whole world.
6- The United Nations and particularly the Security Council and its General Assembly can and should play a key role under such circumstances to express their opposition to the recent U.S. decision. It is necessary that diplomatic missions of Muslim states in the United Nations actively participate in the discussions.
7- The movements of the Zionist regime should be constantly monitored and the OIC should hold sessions wherever appropriate to take necessary decisions at the ministerial or heads of state level.
In conclusion, the Islamic Republic of Iran stands ready to cooperate with each one of the Muslim countries to defend the holy Quds without any reservation or pre-condition.

Thank you
