President of Uzbekistan visits Tashkent International Airport

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited Tashkent International Airport named after Islam Karimov on 2 December.

Uzbek leader got acquainted with a project of construction of new passenger terminal “Tashkent-4”.

The project is funded due to resources of banks and funds of Uzbekistan and South Korea. The capacity of the new terminal will be 1,500 passengers an hour.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev gave his recommendations on effective use of funds and the preparation of a construction site and infrastructure.

Uzbek President got acquainted with the work carried out in the sphere of improving the quality of services and construction of a new waiting room. He gave instructions for construction of hotel and introduction of information technology to improve the quality of services.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev said that here it is necessary to create all conditions and facilities for foreign guests.

NBU signs loan agreement with Korea Eximbank for US$150m

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The National Bank for Foreign Economic Affairs of Uzbekistan and the Korea Eximbank signed a loan agreement for US$150 million.

According to the press service of the Uzbek bank, the agreement envisages allocation of a revolving credit line for financing small business projects, as well as investment projects, envisaging for purchase of equipment, goods and services of South Korean production.

The credit line will finance projects in the fields of agriculture, food industry, medicine, production of building materials, automotive industry, etc.

The loan agreement is “non-guaranteed”, which does not envisage the government guarantee.

Uzbek businessmen show great interest in expanding cooperation with South Korean partners. To date, more than 200 clients of NBU – business entities have expressed their readiness to implement projects involving the purchase of high-tech equipment from South Korea, including due to its own funds, by creating joint ventures, attracting investments, developing loans from Korean banks, for about US$800 million .

A new steam-gas unit is put into operation at Tashkent Thermal Power Plant

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev launched a new steam-gas unit at Tashkent Thermal Power Plant on 2 December 2017.

Uzbek leader pressed the symbolic start button of the new steam-gas unit with a capacity of 370 megawatts.

After commissioning of a new steam-gas unit, the station will generate an additional 2,6 billion kilowatt/hour of electricity and 110 thousand gigacalories of heat per year.

At a modern installation, the specific gas consumption for the generated electricity will be 223 g/kW/h, while at the operating power units this figure is almost twice as high. As a result, 350,9 million cubic meters of natural gas are saved every year.

A steam-gas turbine and generators of the American company “General Electric” were installed in the plant. Modern equipment is also brought from Belgium, Italy, Russia and other countries.

Products of domestic enterprises, including JSC “Uzkabel”, “Uzelektroapparat”, Chirchik Transformer Plant and others were widely used when implementing the project. This made it possible to significantly save currency and effectively use the attracted investments.

The operation of the steam-gas unit is fully automated.

Mikdad: No one is allowed to undermine the unity of Syrian land and people

The Hague, SANA- Deputy Foreign Minister Fayssal Mikdad met the Chairman and the Board of Directors of the National Committee for Syrian Expatriates in the Netherlands.

During the meeting, which took place on Saturday at the Permanent Mission of Syria in The Hague, Mikdad talked about the current situation and developments in Syria after the achievements made by the Syrian Arab Army in the fight against terrorism.

The Deputy Foreign Minister said that no one is allowed to undermine the unity of Syria’s land and people, stressing that the Syrians support their leadership and their army which will fulfill victory over terrorism and will put an end to the plans of the West and its allies in the region.

Mikdad added that the Syrian government is very interested in the efforts exerted by the Syrian expatriates to defend their homeland and their people and to convey the truth about Syria in the countries in which they live.

He also stressed that the Foreign and Expatriates Ministry is committed to following up on their affairs, confirming the Ministry’s readiness to secure all their needs through the Syrian embassies and consulates.

For their part, Chairman of the Committee Malik Samuel and the Board of Directors members confirmed their commitment to their homeland, stressing that they have been working hard for years to convey the truth about the Syrian war against terrorism, shedding light on their contributions in the humanitarian and relief fields, as well as expressing their full readiness to support Syria by providing new investments and participating in the reconstruction process.

“ Syria, Pearl of East” exhibition opened in Hungarian city of Szolnok

Budapest, SANA- “ Syria, Durrat al-Sharq” (Pearl of East) exhibition was opened at the Hungarian city of Szolnok on Saturday evening .

The photo exhibition showcases Syria’s archeological and cultural landmarks before and after the terrorist war being waged against it.

Szolnok Governor, Salay Peter, stressed significance of the exhibition to brief the Hungarian people on the cultural and intellectual history of Syria, hoping that Syria will restore security and stability.

For his part, Chairman of the “Forum for Syria” Dr. Tareq Mayaleh stressed importance of Syria’s role throughout history, pointing out that Syria is the cradle of civilization and land of coexistence.

Mayaleh hailed Syria’s steadfastness in the face of the terrorist campaign targeted it.

100 persons, including 40 gunmen, have their status settled in Daraa

Daraa, SANA- Some 100 persons, among them 40 gunmen, in Daraa province have had their legal status settled on Sunday in the framework of the continued local reconciliations in the province.

SANA reporter said that, some 100 persons, including 40 gunmen, from Sha’ara town in al-Lajat area in Daraa province, who had earlier turned themselves in and handed over their arms to the authorities concerned, have had their status settled.

The reporter added that the authorities provided them with all facilitations needed to help them return to normal life.

Hundreds of people from various areas in Daraa countryside, particularly in the towns of Ghabagheb, al-Sanamin and Mahajjeh have had their status settled, during the current year, as scores of gunmen turned themselves in and handed over their arms to the authorities concerned.
