Alex Gersbach’s Rosenborg unbeaten in Norway

Alex Gersbach’s Norwegian club Rosenborg has had a second convincing win to start its Eliteserien season, with former Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner on target for the club.

The Caltex Socceroo and former Sydney FC fullback played a full 90 minutes in Rosenborg’s 3-0 victory at Sandefjord.

Icelandic striker Matthias Vilhjalmsson opened the scoring shortly after half-time.

Former Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner grabbed the second within ten minutes of coming off the bench midway through the second half and Andre Helland added a third in the closing stages.

Gersbach’s side also won 3-0 on opening day and sit top of the Eliteserien table on goal difference.

DUTCH DELIGHT FOR DAVO 

Fellow left-back Jason Davidson also tasted success overnight.

The former Caltex Socceroo played a full game as Groningen downed Nijmegen 2-0 in the Dutch Eredivisie.

Midfielder Mimoun Mahi scored the opener after half an hour with Juninho Bacuna doubling the advantage midway through the second half.

The win lifts Davidson’s Dutch outfit from 12th to 10th on the table.
