The Australian skipper’s Aston Villa recorded a crucial 1-0 win over QPR and Luongo to stay in striking distance for the play-off places.
In a hard-fought encounter at Loftus Road, Villa got the winner 15 minutes from time thanks to Jonathan Kodjia’s strike.
Both Jedinak and Luongo played 90 minutes for their respective clubs and also picked up yellow cards in the bruising midfield battle. Villa has moved up to 13th spot in the Championship with that win, six points away from the top six, while Ian Holloway’s QPR is 19th and just three points above the drop zone. There was disappointment for goalkeeper Mitch Langerak in Bundesliga2 as his Vfb Stuttgart side went down 3-0 at Wurzburger Kickers. The defeat has seen Stuttgart drop to third spot, two points off the top heading into the Winter break in Germany.
In the Netherlands, Kenneth Dougall and Craig Goodwin were both in action as Sparta Rotterdam lost 1-0 at ADO Den Haag.
Dougall played 90 minutes for Sparta, with Goodwin coming off the bench for the last 23 minutes.
Left-back Jason Davidson watched from the bench as Groningen drew 1-1 with Go Ahead Eagles, while in the English Premier League, both Adam Federici and Brad Smith were unused substitutes in AFC Bournemouth’s 3-1 loss against Southampton.
