Westfield W-League Referee Rachel Mitchenson (Qld) and Fourth Official Maddison Kennedy (SA) will take part in the program following strong performances at the AFC U-14 Girls Regional Championships in Vietnam in June 2015 and the AFC Project Future Selection Course in Kuala Lumpur in November 2015.
Project Future is a unique elite development program for young referees from AFC Member Associations. The participants will attend four development courses during the two year program incorporating theoretical and practical development sessions.
Mitchenson is looking forward to the opportunity to continue to improve her refereeing ability and knowledge through the Project Future program.
“Project Future is a brilliant learning opportunity and I look forward to taking my refereeing to the next level. The theoretical and practical training throughout the courses are of the highest quality,” said Mitchenson.
“It is such an honour to follow in the footsteps of other Queensland referees to have gone through Project Future, such as Jarred Gillett, Alex King and Casey Reibelt. I’ve seen first-hand how it has assisted their development and advanced their refereeing careers – I endeavour to do the same.”
Kennedy is also looking forward to building on her experiences in Vietnam and Kuala Lumpur in 2015:
“Both the AFC U-14 Tournament and the Selection Course in Malaysia were fantastic experiences,” said Kennedy.
“In Vietnam and Malaysia we were coached by some of the best instructors in Asia and the detailed feedback that they provided has been invaluable to my refereeing development.
“With both of these courses under my belt, I’m hoping to go into the Batch 2015 Selection Course with the right mental and physical preparation in order to continue progressing in the Project Future program.
“I have been very fortunate to be included in the 2015 Batch of the Project Future Referees Program and I want to make the most of this once in a lifetime opportunity.
Ultimately, I want to progress as far as I can as a referee to reach my goals, which include refereeing on the Westfield W-League, PS4 National Premier League and one day as a FIFA official.”
The first course will be held from 25 February – 1 March at AFC House in Kuala Lumpur.
