Melbourne Victory and Melbourne City stars promote active play for kids

Football stars from Melbourne Victory and Melbourne City FC will spearhead the launch of a new healthy lifestyle program, aimed at improving the activity levels of children aged 6-12 across Australia.

Football Federation Australia, which oversees the most-played team sport in Australia, is running the three year program, designed to inspire school children across the country.

Launched in Melbourne today by young football stars Milos Ridesic (Melbourne Victory), Stephanie Catley (Melbourne Victory) and Tom King (Melbourne City FC), the Play Project will promote active play to school children with priority given to high-risk areas identified in the national obesity study, inspiring children to live active, healthy lives through better knowledge, attitudes and behaviour.

The first part of the program will teach children about the relationship between active play and their muscles and bones while the second will focus on student’s understanding of the necessity of activity throughout history and the impacts of excessive recreational screen-time on their bodies. The final part of the program will demonstrate the importance of activity and active play in their daily lives and encouraging students to adopt it as a regular habit.

Football Federation Australia Chief Executive Officer David Gallop believes that football is well placed to get children active and promote healthy living principles.

“Football is a skillful, simple and safe game that is perfect for improving students at all levels of ability to live an active, healthy life through better knowledge, attitude and behaviours.

“The Play Project workshops will be run by professional facilitators in primary school classrooms with an emphasis on dialogue, interaction and activity and is aligned with the Health and Physical Education of the Australian Curriculum,” concluded Gallop.

School teachers will be supported by a robust set of post workshop teaching resources and we hope to reach thousands of students over the next 3 years.

The first year of the Play Project will focus on schools within the NSW and Victorian areas, with the launch taking place at Moreland Primary School in Melbourne on 23 October. The program will also be linked to a complementary schools food education project, which will be announced in the coming months. Together the two projects will comprise Australia’s largest healthy lifestyle program for kids.

The program is supported by the Mondelez International Foundation (MIF), which provides funding for community-based programs across the globe. Over the course of the three year program, the Play Project will complete over 3,000 workshops, reaching over 100,000 school children from across the country.

Jornal da Globo aumenta votos de Dilma e divulga pesquisa com 102%

O jornalista Heraldo Pereira apresenta a pesquisa eleitoral no Jornal da Globo, na madrugada desta terça (21)

A Globo divulgou erroneamente a pesquisa de intenção de votos para presidente da República no Jornal da Globo da madrugada desta terça-feira (21). No levantamento do Datafolha, encomendado pela emissora e pelo jornal Folha de S.Paulo, o total dos votos válidos de Aécio Neves (PSDB) e Dilma Rousseff (PT) na região Sudeste soma 102% (a porcentagem correta deveria ser 100%). A rede se equivocou e deu dois pontos percentuais a mais para a candidata petista.

No telejornal, o jornalista Heraldo Pereira exibiu em um telão as intenções de voto de cada candidato por região. No Sudeste, Dilma Rousseff apareceu com 46%, contra 56% de Aécio Neves, totalizando 102%. A soma, entretanto, não pode ultrapassar 100%. A pesquisa real mostra a petista com 44%. A porcentagem do candidato tucano está correta.

O erro na soma da pesquisa passou despercebido por Heraldo Pereira e pelos apresentadores do Jornal da Globo, Christiane Pelajo e William Waack. Nas outras regiões, as porcentagens foram divulgadas corretamente.

A pesquisa foi realizada pelo instituto Datafolha, que ouviu 4.389 eleitores na última segunda-feira (20). A margem de erro é de dois pontos percentuais para mais ou para menos e o nível de confiança é de 95%. O levantamento está registrado no TSE (Tribunal Superior Eleitoral) sob o número BR-01140/2014.

A apresentadora norte-americana Kimberly Guilfoyle disse que as mulheres jovens não devem votar, o que é “uma boa desculpa para voltar ao Tinder e ao Match.Com”. A declaração polêmica foi dada no programa The Five desta quarta (22), na Fox News, canal de notícias de maior audiência dos Estados Unidos. Tinder é um aplicativo de paquera. Match.com é um site de relacionamentos.

Assim como no Brasil, os EUA estão em período eleitoral. No próximo dia 4, os norte-americanos vão eleger 33 senadores, 435 deputados federais e 38 governadores. O voto no país não é obrigatório.

A fala de Kimberly gerou críticas nas redes sociais. Uma usuária do Twitter escreveu que ela deveria se envergonhar. “Depois de tantas lutas das mulheres pelo direito de votar, você vem e diz isso?”, questionou. Ela também recebeu apoio, principalmente de eleitoras conservadoras, afinadas com a Fox News.

Kimberly defendeu que as mulheres jovens não tem experiência de vida. “Elas não sabem o que é pagar contas. Não têm experiência com crianças, com a comunidade. Elas são saudáveis, gostosas, e vivem por aí sem preocupação”, disse.
