Capri by Fraser Brisbane hotel set to open next year

Frasers Hospitality it set to add Brisbane to its map with the opening of the Capri by Fraser Brisbane next year.

Construction is already underway to convert an office tower into the new apartment hotel – the first Capri by Fraser in Australia, and the fourth Frasers location in Australia following Sydney, Melbourne and Perth.

 

Styled to offer a modern, hotel-type environment but with the comforts of a home or apartment, the 239-room Albert Street property sits in the CBD and is just a short walk from the Riverside Centre: Brisbane’s financial hub.

Packed with an indoor swimming pool and gymnasium, there’s also a 24-hour laundrette for added convenience.

Hungry travellers will be greeted by a street-level restaurant and café featuring Australian produce and a Club Lounge for breakfast, afternoon tea, evening drinks and canapés.

Meeting room facilities are also slated for the property, along with ‘Spin’ and ‘Play’ rooms with interactive games.

With a modern-day flair, Capri comes with bright, vibrant and airy Interiors, common social spaces and contemporary art installations.

Already on the Australia map for the chain is the Fraser Place Melbourne, the award-winning Fraser Suites Sydney in the heart of the CBD andFraser Suites Perth.

Sydney Airport warns of traffic congestion as roadworks begin

Travellers are warned to give themselves extra time when driving toSydney Airport from this week as work begins on upgrading the road network at the T1 International terminal.

Some parts of T1’s outdoor car park will be temporarily fenced off during construction, although the airport says that additional spaces will be made available in the multi-storey car park.

From July 28th the car park entrance on Cooks River Drive will be permanently closed.

By year’s end the terminal will boast a new centre road to provide better traffic circulation through the T1 precinct, with the car park’s entry and exit gates relocated “to provide faster entry and exits” according to Sydney Airport.

There will also be “a larger, purpose-built pick-up area to make pick-ups and drop-offs easier and quicker.”

It’s all a matter of pain before gain says Craig Norton, Sydney Airport’s General Manager Parking and Ground Transport.

“Sydney Airport is investing in these works at the International terminal to significantly improve the journey to and from the airport for passengers and visitors alike.”

“While we are undertaking these upgrades, we do anticipate some traffic delays, particularly in traditionally busy periods such as school holidays and weekends.”

Norton suggests that travellers check the Sydney Airport website and@SydneyAirport Twitter channel for any daily updates on the T1 roadworks before heading to the airport.

Motorists approaching T1 are advised to watch for signs indicating changed traffic conditions, while additional airport ground staff will be on hand to direct motorists around the affected roads and parking areas.

The work at T1 is part of a five-year, $300 million program which also includes a revamp of ground transportation for the T2/T3 Domestic terminal precinct.

This will include widening Joyce Drive and General Holmes Drive (between O’Riordan Street and Mill Pond Road) to three lanes in each direction, and replacing the level railway crossing for the Port Botany freight line at General Holmes Drive with a road underpass linking General Holmes Drive, Botany Road and Wentworth Avenue.

Qantas considers domestic-international split

IN BRIEF | Qantas is reportedly considering a formal split of its domestic and international arms with the aim of attracting more foreign investment under changes to the Qantas Sale Act.

Ironically, the move could see the Flying Kangaroo adopt an identical structure to challenger Virgin Australia and allow overseas investment in Qantas Domestic.

Foreign airlines can in theory now hold as much as 49% of Qantas, up from a previous 25% cap for any single overseas investor

Qantas already runs its domestic and international arms as two distinct business units, each with its own CEO heading up operational and commercial functions, following a restructure in May 2012.

Para voltar à Seleção, Dunga teria pedido fim de privilégios à Globo

 

 

O técnico Dunga foi apresentado na manhã desta terça-feira (22) como o novo comandante da Seleção Brasileira, após o fiasco na Copa do Mundo onde o Brasil foi eliminado pela Alemanha na semifinal, perdendo de 7 a 1.

Segundo o jornalista Ricardo Perrone, para voltar a treinar a Seleção (ele foi técnico entre 2006 e 2010), Dunga fez alguns pedidos, que podem ser considerados como exigências.

Ele pediu o fim dos privilégios para alguns membros da imprensa, principalmente a Rede Globo. Para Dunga, ninguém pode falar apenas com um canal, e sim com todos, de preferência em entrevistas coletivas. Na Copa de 2010, a Globo teve vários problemas com o técnico, por causa dos privilégios que era acostumada a ter. O mais emblemático episódio foi quando, em uma entrevista coletiva, Dunga xingou Alex Escobar. O fato fez o “Fantástico” escrever um editorial, rebatendo a grosseria dele nas coletivas. Pouco depois, o técnico pediu desculpas e reconheceu o erro.

Depois que saiu da Seleção, Dunga comandou apenas o Internacional de Porto Alegre, em 2013. Na equipe, venceu o Campeonato Gaúcho mas foi demitido durante o Campeonato Brasileiro. Ele foi criticado por fazer um time de qualidade não jogar bem.

Na coletiva desta terça, como já era esperado, Dunga falou sobre sua relação com a imprensa.

“Sei que eu tenho de melhorar no contato com as pessoas, com os jornalistas. Talvez na primeira passagem pela seleção, por ser oriundo do futebol e por não ter tido experiência anterior como treinador, tenha focado demais dentro de campo. Sobre os resultados dentro de campo eu não preciso falar muito, mas preciso aprimorar meu relacionamento com a imprensa, o que é normal. Essa é a minha mea culpa”, disse ele.

James Akel comenta erro da TV Globo no lançamento da novela Império

 

 

 

Eu poderia escrever aqui uma coleção de palavras pra preencher espaço sobre o baixo ibope do lançamento da novela das oito ontem na TV Globo, mas nem precisa nada.

Vamos direto ao objetivo.

O péssimo ibope da novela nada tem a ver com seu conteúdo.

Tem a ver com o calendário apenas.

Lançar uma novela na última semana de julho é um atrevimento que apenas os desconhecedores do ramo poderiam fazer.

O ibope que as agências de propaganda reconhecem é o ibope da cidade de São Paulo e algumas cidades ao lado chamadas de Grande São Paulo.

É neste local que o Ibope faz sua pesquisa sobre tv por ser considerada a maior região consumista do país e por isto é o ibope de básico pras agências.

Nesta última semana de julho minha cidade está vazia.

Se nem tem gente no trânsito também não vai ter gente suficiente pra assistir novela.

Um erro destes não acontecia quando Boni comandava a emissora.

Não existe mais nenhum remanescente da era Boni ali dentro da TV Globo, ou porque já morreram ou porque foram desprezados por Roberto Irineu, presidente e filho do fundador, que de tv conhece apenas nada.

Alguns leitores vão de criticar e dizer que Roberto Irineu é o presidente da TV Globo e portanto deve conhecer de tv.

E eu contradigo ao mostrar fatos que já mostrei outrora e que levaria páginas pra mostrar.

Mostro apenas o fato de que Roberto Irineu demitiu Boni no melhor momento da TV Globo, tanto de público quanto de dinheiro e a partir daquele momento jamais a TV Globo foi o que foi.

Os ódios pessoais são bem maiores que o raciocínio das pessoas.

James Akel comenta caso da TV Monte Carlo que deu um enorme prejuízo para Roberto Marinho

Muitos anos atrás, quando Roberto Marinho ainda era vivo e Boni comandava a TV Globo, o filho mais velho de Roberto Marinho, Roberto Irineu, talvez ansioso por não poder mexer em nada na TV porque Boni tinha comando de verdade, decidiu partir pra uma empreitada pessoal.

Mas não tinha capital pra tanto e precisava de dinheiro do pai.

Roberto Irineu queria ter uma tv dele, pra ele comandar, e escolheu fazer isto na Europa, comprando a TV Monte Carlo.

O resultado da empreitada foi o maior insucesso da história do grupo.

Durante um jantar de aniversário, Roberto Marinho, numa mesa com Antonio Carlos Magalhães, Arnaldo Niskier e um ex político carioca, contava aos amigos a sua tristeza ao ter que desembolsar 150 milhões de dólares na época pra cobrir a empreitada do filho.

Vale aqui contar que na época, com muito menos dinheiro, Roberto Marinho poderia ter se associado à CNN que estava em busca de um sócio.

Mas na CNN o filho não poderia mandar.

Outro detalhe que houve foi o fato que numa reunião entre Roberto Marinho, seu filho Roberto Irineu e Boni, o Boni ter sido contra o investimento.

Talvez, e eu digo talvez porque não estou na cabeça do Roberto Irineu, ali possa ter gerado um ódio sem par de Roberto Irineu contra Boni porque o evento da compra não foi sucesso.

Dali pra frente, quando Roberto Irineu teve que passar pra frente a tv e voltar a ser apenas um herdeiro, Roberto não teria suportado a comparação que seu pai sempre faria do insucesso da TV Monte Carlo com o sucesso da TV Globo gerenciada por Boni e sua equipe.

Hoje a TV Globo tem lucro, bastante até, mas por pura inabilidade dos concorrentes.

Em tempo algum foi tão fácil mudar o cenário e tirar a liderança da TV Globo.

Mas nenhuma das outras emissoras tem equipe que possa realizar tal façanha.

E isto nada tem a ver com os diretores de programas.

Tem tudo a ver com os donos das outras emissoras.

Na TV Record o Bispo Edir Macedo tinha bons executivos que comandavam a programação e conteúdo da emissora, até que achou que estava tudo bem e poderia continuar assim no comando de um Bispo.

E a partir daí, sempre com um Bispo no comando, antes Honorilton Gonçalves e agora Marcelo Silva, a TV Record perdeu ibope e só não deixou de ser vice líder porque a administração do SBT, sob comando exclusivo de Silvio Santos, embora ele desminta isto, consegue ser pior que a administração da TV Record.

Na TV Record só vai ao ar o que os Bispos Edir Macedo e Marcelo Silva permitem.

No SBT só vai ao ar o que Silvio Santos deixa.

Coincidência ou não, as duas emissoras só deixaram de ser concorrentes da TV Globo quando os executivos comandantes passaram a ser os donos.

James Akel comenta que Dilma Rousseff e Rede Globo possuem muitas coisas em comum

Outro dia estava pensando na TV Globo e no governo Dilma.

Um pensamento daqueles que surgem do nada.

E neste pensamento começou a se formar uma ideia estruturada em fatos.

Quero apenas que meus leitores entendam que não estou fazendo comparações pessoais, valores pessoais ou acusação do que quer que seja.

É apenas um pensamento lúdico que tive e que compartilho com meus leitores.

No meu entendimento o sucesso de Lula e o PT naseleições que levaram Lula ao governo deve-se exclusivamente a José Dirceu, que é o Boni do PT.

José Dirceu é um estrategista e por isto soube fazer e executar toda estratégia de sucesso do PT que levou Lula ao poder.

Enquanto José Dirceu comandava, tudo ia bem.

José Dirceu era o Boni do PT e Lula era a novela das oito.

Na TV Globo a novela das oito era a grande marca.

E Lula a grande marca do PT.

Quando Lula resolve tirar José Dirceu do governo, tirou dali o comandante incólume de toda estratégia.

A queda de José Dirceu do comando político foi o maior erro de Lula.

Na Câmara Federal José Dirceu só poderia mesmo ser cassado por ser invejado e odiado pelos seu pares.

A partir da cassação de José Dirceu o PT não foi mais o mesmo.

Dilma apareceu no meu pensamento de comparação sendo o Roberto Irineu Marinho, que resolveu comandar a TV Globo e  perdeu ibope a partir de seu comando.

Lula deixou de ser a novela das oito pra ser o Jornal Nacional, que piorou de conteúdo e de ibope e deixou de ser a maior referência do Brasil em jornalismo.

O povo começou e se instruir mais com a web e deixou o Jornal Nacional de lado enquanto o mesmo povo passou aler mais web e passou a ver muitas incoerências do Lula , tudo mostrado em vídeos que não podem ser questionados.

Quando todos achavam que a TV Globo era imbatível, e eu sempre disse o contrário, e agora até o Legendários da TV Record foi líder no sábado por muito tempo contra a TV Globo, Dilma vê sua liderança absoluta deixando de ser tão absoluta.

Deixo meu pensamento lúdico por aqui.

Lógico que os leitores vão pensar em inúmeras outras comparações e talvez até algumas pontas da história toda tenham ficado soltas qual novela das oito.

Mas eu disse desde o começo que era apenas um pensamento lúdico, daquele que  vem e vão a qualquer hora.

Ia até me esquecendo de que quando deixou o poder no governo e foi tirado do Congresso, José Dirceu se dedicou a negócios próprios com êxito, assim igual Boni fez quando saiu da TV Globo e ficou dono de sua própria emissora.

Overseas scammers sell Macgregor property without owner’s knowledge

Overseas property scammers have struck in the ACT, selling a Macgregor woman’s property without her knowledge while she was living in South Africa.

It is understood the Macgregor property owner recently discovered the house had been sold about four months earlier after contacting her property manager to query why she was not receiving rental payments.

The exact details of the scam have not been publicly released and it is not known how much the property was sold for.

ACT Police has confirmed this morning that they are investigating the suspected scam.

Attorney-General Simon Corbell said the government was very concerned ”a scam of this magnitude may have affected residents in the ACT”.

He said the government did not anticipate publicly releasing information at present as the facts were not yet fully clear and the matter may be the subject of an investigation.

Mr Corbell revealed documentation confirming the suspected fraudulent property sale was handed to the Office of Regulatory Services on July 11.

He said the office was reviewing the circumstances of the sale.

Real Estate Institute ACT chief executive Ron Bell was concerned that such a scam may have been carried out in the ACT.

”We’ve experienced one sale that I know of in Canberra, which was in Macgregor. I’m not sure of the consequences of that but it probably means somebody lost a lot of money unnecessarily and I’m not sure what we put in place to prevent this.”

Mr Corbell last week issued a media release reminding the real estate industry to be vigilant with property sales, particularly where the seller is overseas. He said the ORS was engaging with the real estate industry to determine whether additional anti-fraud measures were merited.

ACT Police referred earlier enquires to the Australian Federal Police, which then referred The Canberra Times to South African authorities.

Authorities believe it may be the first such scam in the ACT but there have been similar cases in WA including two successful sales and six attempted real estate frauds.

The alarming scams triggered the largest ever overhaul of WA’s property industry and led to an international police effort involving WA Police and AFP working with their counterparts in South Africa and Nigeria.

There have been two successful arrests, including one earlier this month where three people were charged over the attempted fraudulent sale of a unit in Mandurah, south of Perth.

Detective Senior Sergeant Dom Blackshaw from WA Police’s Major Fraud Squad has been heavily involved in the WA investigations. He says fraudsters will go to elaborate lengths to carry out the sophisticated scams.

Although he was unaware of the ACT case, he said it seemed South Africa was heavily linked to the WA scams and it appeared victims were targeted either through stolen mail or from their computer being hacked.

He said the scammers would typically contact the property manager, pretending to be the real owner and request a change to their contact details.

He said scammers would ”groom” the agents, often using forged documents that look legitimate to the average person.

”It’s a process of research and learning and they’re doing that through the agents and trying to find out as much as they can to get documents that maybe have signatures of the owners, lease agreements, that sort of thing,” he said.

”Once they’ve armed themsleves with that, then they go to the selling agent and use those documents to try and validate that they are the true owner.

”Generally what we’ve found is these properties haven’t been mortgaged. There is a title deed, but they’ve come up with reasons why they may not be able to produce them. One was that the owner had died, but they produced a death certificate. Any document that’s required or asked for by the selling agent has been produced.”

He said in the WA cases, the agents had acted in good faith and sold the properties to innocent purchasers. For the real owners, the only recourse was to seek compensation from the WA government.
