Cerezo Osaka seals ACL berth

Tokyo: Cerezo Osaka, who finished fourth in the J. League, will take part in the AFC Champions League 2014 after the J. League’s top two finishers, Sanfrecce Hiroshima and Yokohama F. Marinos, won their respective semi-finals and reached the final of the Emperor’s Cup.

Japan’s four slots in the Asian premier club competition are given to the top three teams in the J. League and the Emperor’s Cup winners.

J. League Champions Hiroshima and runners-up Yokohama had already qualified along with the league’s third-placed finishers Kawasaki Frontale.

Cerezo will make their second appearance in the ACL after reaching the quarterfinals in 2011. In the 2014 ACL, Cerezo, will play in Group E and will visit Pohang Steelers of Korea Republic in their first game. Their first home game will be against Shandong Luneng Taishan of China.

In the semi-finals of the Emperor’s Cup played on Sunday, league champions Hiroshima recorded a 5-4 penalty shootout win over FC Tokyo.

Two late goals secured a dramatic 2-0 win for Yokohama over Sagan Tosu in another semi-final played on the same day.

The final of the Emperor’s Cup will be played on the New Year’s Day.

Positive start for Kuwait

Doha: Kuwait opened their 8th WAFF Championship campaign with a promising note by defeating Lebanon 2-0 on Monday at the Al Sadd Stadium of Doha.

Fahad Alhajeri fired the Kuwaitis 1-0 ahead in the 41st minute and Faisal Alharbi ensured all three points from the match by scoring the match’s second goal five minutes from time.

With the win in their only match, Kuwait are at the top of Group C while Jordan, who played a goalless stalemate against Lebanon in their opening match, are at second.

Jordan will take on Kuwait on Wednesday and a win for either side would be enough for them to register a berth in the semi-finals as group winner.

Qatar book berth in semis

Doha: Adil Ahmad and Boualem Khoukhi scored a brace each as hosts Qatar thumped Saudi Arabia 4-1 to advance into the semi-finals of the ongoing 8th WAFF Championship.

In the match which produced maximum number of goals so far in the tournament, Qatar took control from the beginning and despite conceding an equaliser in the first half, the hosts netted three goals in the space of seven second-half minutes to seal the emphatic victory.

Qatar topped Group A with maximum six points while Saudi Arabia ended up third behind Palestine on goal differences.

Khoukhi opened his account in the 16th minute but Mohammed Majrashi scored Saudi Arabia’s first and only goal of the tournament in the 31st minute.

In a frantic seven-minute period of the second half, Qatar scored three with Khouki completing his brace in the 55th minute and then Ahmad netting twice in the 57th and 62nd minutes.

Yet another goalless stalemate in Group B

Doha: All three sides of Group B of the 8th WAFF Championship failed to score a single goal as all the sides finished on equal terms with two points from two matches.

The group witnessed yet another goalless stalemate as Oman hold Iraq in their last match of the group stages on Monday.

There are three groups of three teams with top three finishers and best second-placed side advancing in the semi-finals.

Beside Oman, Iraq and Bahrain other competing nations in the 8th WAFF Championship are Jordan, Qatar, Palestine, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Lebanon.

Yokohama lift Japan Emperor’s Cup

PUBLISHED: 01 JANUARY 2014

Tokyo: Yokohama Marinos ended the domestic season on a high by beating Sanfrecce Hiroshima 2-0 in the Emperor’s Cup final played at the Tokyo’s National Stadium on Wednesday.

Both the sides primed to feature in this year’s AFC Champions League shared a trophy each after Hiroshima snatched the domestic league title in a dramatic finale on December last year.

Japan internationals Saito Manabu and Nakazawa Yuji scored midway through the first half to erase the agony of not winning the league as the then runaway leaders failed to win three of their last four matches of the season. The Emperor’s Cup trophy was Yokohama’s first in 21 years.

“This is our first Emperor’s Cup title as Marinos and since the J. League started,” Marinos manager Higuchi Yasuhiro was quoted as saying in JFA’s official website. “We’d like to celebrate this with everyone – our players, club staff and our supporters,” he added.

Both the sides will be involved in action again on February 22 in the domestic season’s curtain raiser Super Cup three days before the start of their continental campaign.

Hiroshima are in Group F which features reigning A-League champions Central Coast Mariners, the 2013 ACL finalists FC Seoul and the playoff winner of East Zone 3.1.

Likewise, Yokohama face Australian debutants Western Sydney Wanderers, Guizhou Renhe and 2012 ACL champions Ulsan Hyundai in Group H.

A New Year’s Eve party that destroyed a Christchurch flat spiralled out of control after it was promoted on Facebook.

The 12-hour party was shut down by police in full riot gear shortly before midnight after a tenant finally called them in. When the officers arrived at the “large-scale disorder” in Frankleigh St, Spreydon, beer bottles were hurled at them.

Two arrests were made and six on-the-spot fines handed out. The young tenants now have the unenviable task of explaining the damage to their landlords, who are out of town.

The flat was left barely habitable, with every window smashed, graffiti scrawled over walls inside and out, and large holes in interior walls.

Hundreds of broken bottles and crushed cans were strewn about the yard. Pools of blood and blood trails led up the drive.

Party co-host Hemi Carstairs blamed Facebook for spreading the message beyond his group of friends.

“It was a mean night until it got out of hand then people started getting out of control, breaking the windows,” he told Newstalk ZB.

The house was owned by the father of another of the party’s organisers, Taylor Te Kata, who told 3News he had yet to see his dad’s reaction.

One neighbour said she had phoned police earlier in the night as the party escalated.

“It was turning ugly pretty early on,” said the woman, who did not wish to be named. “They were all pretty young and just going crazy, screaming, shouting, loud music, smashing bottles.

“They just kept coming. There were hundreds of them.”

Police tried for nearly an hour to get a warrant to enter the property before one of the tenants phoned.

Overall, it was a quiet night for police around the country. Revellers in Auckland, Wellington and Dunedin were reasonably well behaved, police said, with no major incidents.

Bay of Plenty saw the New Year in peacefully with just a minority causing concern, while Waikato police said celebrations in Whangamata were trouble-free.

“Principalmente a Paloma (Paolla Oliveira).

Eu só quero me apresentar e inspirar as pessoas“.

“Morning Show” muda de horário e RedeTV! busca novo título

https://i0.wp.com/natelinha.ne10.uol.com.br/imagem/noticia/c8355647f015428f6df8e813d78e8f99.jpg
