Restos de madeira e alguns móveis no meio da rua foi o que sobrou dos barracos armados em um terreno às margens da Avenida Carlos Jereissati, em frente ao Aeroporto Pinto Martins, após a demolição executada pela Secretaria Executiva Regional (SER) VI. O local invadido há cerca de 2 meses por 350 famílias foi desocupado na tarde desta terça-feira (29) pela Prefeitura de Fortaleza. Essa é a quinta vez que as moradias são destruídas.

Enquanto aguardavam um trator terminar o serviço, os moradores reclamavam da falta de aviso prévio sobre a remoção e de um tempo hábil para retirar os pertences de dentro dos barracos.

Além de representantes da Regional VI, cerca de 25 agentes da guarda municipal e 12 do Comando Tático Motorizado (Cotam) permaneceram próximos ao acampamento durante a operação. “Não deu tempo de tirar meus móveis, minhas coisas. Já chegaram arrancando os fios [elétricos] e mandando a gente sair”, relata uma das acampadas, Francisca Cassiano de Sousa, de 53 anos.

Prefeitura alega que terreno é área de conservação ambiental

A Regional IV declarou que a ocupação do terreno é irregular por se tratar de uma Zona Especial Ambiental (ZEA). “Não são permitidas novas ocupações e parcelamentos do solo. No espaço, só podem ser promovidas ações que visem à manutenção das áreas de conservação e preservação ambiental, oferecendo espaços públicos adequados ao lazer da população, sem intervenção significativa no bioma”, explicou.

A Prefeitura informou ainda que fará um cadastramento dos moradores para que sejam inscritos no programa de moradia.

Logo após a máquina e funcionários da gestão municipal deixarem o local, por volta das 16h, moradores já iniciaram a demarcação dos terrenos com cordas e estacas. “Eu não tenho onde dormir. Vou reconstruir minha casa aqui ainda hoje”, afirmou Vírginia Pereira da Silva, uma das primeiras a mudar-se para a ocupação ao lado do neto de 3 anos.

Should Today Tonight and A Current Affair be axed ? Not so fast …

Tracy Grimshaw’s interview with the 2Day FM ‘royal prank’ DJs Michael Christian and Mel Greig snared one of ACA‘s two Walkley award nominations this year.

If the rumours are to be believed, Today Tonight is facing the chop and A Current Affair will shift to 7pm next year – in both cases, to make way for one-hour news bulletins.

But channels Seven and Nine would be foolish to tamper with these programs too hastily.

At face value, a one-hour news service makes sense. Currently, the half-hour bulletins draw much bigger audiences than the tabloid programs that follow them.

The theory is that by extending the news, you extend the big ratings.

Since the NSW bushfires broke out, Nine has been airing a one-hour bulletin in Sydney and screening ACA at 7pm. Earlier this year, Seven also rolled out an extended bulletin to cover floods and bushfires. In both cases, it worked.

But that does not guarantee success for a permanent 60-minute news service. Audiences are accustomed to their concise daily dose of news, sport and weather. Stretching out the bulletins to an hour – especially on slow news days – could prompt restless viewers to begin flicking their remotes.

Besides, ACA and TT rate very highly. Nearly every night, they crack the top 10 and frequently, the top five.

Seven, not surprisingly, is keen to hose down rumours it will axe TT or replace its Sydney and Melbourne host, Helen Kapalos.

“Business as usual,” said a network spokeswoman, insisting TT will return in 2014 and that Kapalos remains under contract. (Fairfax Media understands she is signed to Seven for at least another year.)

Since Kapalos took over in February, she has lifted the ratings and narrowed the gap between the Tracy Grimshaw-hosted ACA, which has won every ratings week this year in Sydney and Melbourne. Nationally, however, TT has won three of the past four weeks. The program is hardly on its last legs – even though TT remains hampered by the poor lead-in from Seven’s news, which gets thumped by Nine in Sydney and Melbourne.

Still, there are plenty of reasons these tabloid shows appeal to the networks.

For a start, they’re cheaper to produce than news, which keeps costs down.

Advertisers love them because of the audiences they attract: people who sign up for supermarket loyalty schemes, interest free offers at Harvey Norman and instalment plans for new cars.

Sometimes, sponsors get to promote their wares in the programs themselves, under the guise of consumer interest stories. (This infuriates the ABC crowd but the commercial networks simply shrug off the criticisms. Every morning, they get a minute-by-minute breakdown of how each segment rated. The fact is, viewers love these stories.)

Indeed, the networks use these programs to plug their own shows. (Though arguably, it works both ways. My Kitchen Rules has a bigger audience than TT, for instance, so TT running a segment on MKR could conceivably attract viewers.)

A Nine spokesman denies there is an overhaul ahead, saying: “We have no current plans to change our evening news and current affairs schedule.”

Nine insiders, however, say ACA’s move to 7pm remains a real possibility.

Senior Seven executives, meanwhile, are hoping their rivals proceed with the change.

“We’d love for Today Tonight to compete with the second half-hour of Nine’s news,” says one. “People will get bored with the one-hour news every night. They’ll start changing channels and they’ll come to us.”

Should Nine’s extended bulletin trump Seven, of course, all bets are off.

Yet if both networks do what they say they’ll do, then ACA and TT will continue competing in the 6.30pm slot next year.

These programs occupy an unusual spot in the Australian media landscape.

Britain has its tabloid newspapers, full of sensationalist reporting, undercover stings and bizarre human interest stories. Australia’s tabloid papers, by comparison, are relatively sober. (Seriously. Compare them to see the difference.)

In fact, the local equivalents of Britain’s The Sun or The Daily Mail are ACA and TT. As such, they have their fair share of critics – and many of their criticisms, from race-baiting to fearmongering, are deserved.

At best, however, they act as consumer watchdogs and public advocates, and report in a simple but engaging fashion. ACA has even been nominated for two Walkley awards this year.

Tracy Grimshaw’s interview with the 2Day FM “royal prank” DJs snared one of those nominations. A magnificent interviewer, she shines when tackling the big stories directly.

It’s strange, therefore, that Seven has not made more use of Kapalos as an interviewer. A former ACA reporter herself – with years of radio and TV interviewing experience on ABC, SBS, Prime and NBN – she’d enhance her connection with viewers if freed from the confines of her desk.

If Seven or Nine really is plotting an overhaul of their news and current affairs offering, they’re unlikely to reveal it now. Neither wants to show their hand first. There’ll be a lot of bluffing and denials until the very last minute.

Even if the format and the timeslots remain unchanged, though, the battle will intensify. Seven has long reigned supreme in Adelaide and Perth but with Nine recently buying the WIN stations in both cities, it intends to fight Seven head on.

Seven, on the other hand, is sick of being trounced by Nine in Sydney and Melbourne in the early evening slot. It has already gained some ground and will do everything it can to claw back more.

“We won’t be waiting until next year to get the edge,” says a source from one of the programs. “We’re always in fierce competition.”

De 2 a 8 de março o VIVA transmite o carnaval de 2014 em parceria com a TV Globo

Xaxá Produções promete processar a Federação Cearense de Futebol por calúnia e difamação

Jogo entre Portuguesa e Flamengo tem polêmica: produtora promete processar FCF por acusação de calote

Se Portuguesa e Flamengo fizeram um jogo fraco e pouco movimentado em campo, nos bastidores o duelo ainda rende muita polêmica. Isso porque a produtora do evento é acusada de sumir com R$ 810 mil da renda da partida realizada no último domingo e válido pela Série A do Campeonato Brasileiro. Fabiano Rodrigues, produtor do evento, disse tudo está pago e que irá processar os acusadores.

O futebol cearense acordou com uma séria acusação de “calote”. A Federação Cearense de Futebol (FCF), a Federação Paulista de Futebol (FPF) e a Arena Castelão alegam não ter recebido o dinheiro que cabe às partes e registraram um Boletim de Ocorrência (BO) contra a empresa de eventos sul-mato-grossense Xaxá Produções. Como maneira de se resguardar, a Portuguesa também fez o mesmo procedimento policial, temendo não ter a hospedagem quitada.

Entretanto, em conversa com a reportagem, Fabiano Rodrigues afirmou que honrou com todas as despesas do jogo, incluindo o aluguel do estádio, o quadro móvel e as taxas para as federações Paulista e Cearense. Rodrigues, inclusive, enviou comprovantes para a reportagem. Só para a FCF foram pagos, de forma antecipada, R$ 45 mil, com a assinatura do departamento financeiro e com papel timbrado da entidade esportiva local.

Inicialmente, o presidente da FCF, Mauro Carmélio, afirmou que a federação não havia recebido nada, assim como também não havia sido pago o quadro móvel e a alimentação da segurança e da Polícia Militar. Após ser informado do posicionamento da Xaxá Produções, o mandatário voltou atrás e afirmou que resta pagar apenas parte do quadro móvel funcional.

“Em momento nenhum disse que a FCF não recebeu sua parte. Resta apenas o pagamento do quadro móvel funcional, que corresponde aos gandulas, por exemplo. O quadro móvel financeiro foi pago. Para a Federação, ficou o prejuízo de apenas R$ 5 mil, e não faço a menor questão desse dinheiro”, salientou.

Fabiano Rodrigues alega ter pago R$ 2,2 mil pelo quadro móvel. Carmélio diz que a Xaxá Produções ainda deve R$ 120 mil pelo jogo.

´Taxas absurdas´

Em conversa por telefone, Rodrigues fez acusações ao assessor da presidência da FCF, Luizinho Torquato. O empresário diz que o dirigente cobrou “taxas absurdas”, como R$ 9 mil para “agradar” radialistas.

“Luizinho disse que tinha a parte da mídia. Ele (Torquato) disse que, se não pagasse, os radialistas iam criticar o jogo. Achei isso um absurdo e não paguei”, pontuou.

Torquato reconheceu que houve um diálogo acerca do assunto, mas que foi procurado para entrar em contato com radialistas e repassar os valores para a Xaxá Produções. “Ele pediu para eu falar com os radialistas. Fiz apenas esse meio campo. Ele pagou R$ 1,1 mil para quatro profissionais pequenos e ficou devendo R$ 4,4 mil para quatro grandes”, defendeu-se.

Fabiano Rodrigues disse ainda que chegou a conversar com parceiros para trazer mais jogos do Brasileirão para Fortaleza, mas que, depois do ocorrido, não cogita a hipótese de retorno. O prejuízo da produtora foi de aproximadamente R$ 300 mil.

Portuguesa

No fim da tarde de ontem, a Portuguesa divulgou uma nota oficial dizendo não ter sido vítima de calote, mas admitiu a “falta de pagamento de algumas partes”. O clube afirmou que tudo seria quitado pelos organizadores em até 72 horas. A Lusa recebeu pouco mais de 90% dos R$ 600 mil pela partida.

Em discurso emocionado, o apóstolo Valdemiro Santiago, que vai deixar a Rede 21, UHF, que pertence à Band, afirmou que “estão tentando destruir” seu ministério. Ele se referia à Igreja Universal, que tomou seu espaço não só no canal 21, mas também nas madrugadas da Band.

A igreja de Valdemiro, a Mundial, teria atrasado vários pagamentos do contrato de locação do canal 21 e da Band. A Universal fez uma proposta rentável à Band e tirou seu espaço. Valdemiro ainda deverá ficar alguns dias no ar, conforme reza o contrato com a emissora da família Saad.

“Não é a primeira vez (que tentam me destruir). Lembro que eu estava feliz numa rádio. Um dia chegou a polícia e confiscou tudo. Disseram: o senhor está preso. Fecharam a rádio, mas o dono mesmo da rádio nada sofreu. Eu perguntei, mas por quê? E um policial me disse: o senhor é a bola da vez.

“Não vão apagar minha luz”, afirmou Santiago, principal inimigo da Igreja Universal de Edir Macedo. “Ninguém vai destruir esta obra”.

Santiago está tentando comprar a extinta MTV, do grupo Abril, que hoje exibe a TV Ideal, um canal corporativo. Há rumores de que também estaria tentando adquirir uma parte das ações da RedeTV! A emissora nega.

A Mundial vem sofrendo com problemas financeiros há pelo menos um ano, supostamente devido a uma estratégia errada de crescimento. Santiago vinha tentando superar a Universal em número de templos e em tempo de TV. No ano passado, a Record, emissora de Edir Macedo fez várias denúncias contra a Igreja Mundial –inclusive sobre o desvio do dinheiro de fiéis para compra de propriedades. Valdemiro Santiago nega, mas teve de vender propriedades após inquérito aberto pelo Ministério Público de São Paulo.

Durante o sermão, Santiago chorou várias vezes ao mostrar supostos milagres ocorridos em sua igreja.

Auckland named top 10 city to visit

 

Despite it’s embattled mayor, Auckland has been rated as one of the top 10 cities in the world to visit next year.

The country’s most populous city made the list of Lonely Planet’s Best in Travel 2014, published today.

Auckland sits alongside iconic hotspots including Paris, Zurich, Shanghai and Vancouver in the ninth annual guide, which highlights the trendiest destinations, journeys and experiences for the upcoming year.

Auckland is recognised for its cuisine, culture and coastal scenery with Lonely Planet saying: “Food, arts and exploring the coastal hinterland are all excellent reasons to extend your stay in New Zealand’s biggest and most cosmopolitan city.”

Mayor Len Brown said the accolade from the world’s number one independent guidebook was well-deserved.

“It shows Auckland is becoming known the world over as a destination in its own right, an exciting international city in a stunning natural setting, and an umissable South Pacific urban experience. The work we are doing to make Auckland a fabulous place to live and visit is paying off and putting Auckland on the map,” he says.

The guide makes particular mention of the waterfront area and Britomart as well as the more far-flung parts of the region such as the west-coast beaches and Waiheke Island.

The recognition follows several others in the last year, including Lonely Planet’s current New Zealand guide labelling Auckland’s Hauraki Gulf and Islands and Auckland City the top two New Zealand experiences.

The top-10 cities were independently nominated by more than 500 Lonely Planet authors and staff and selected based on topicality, excitement and “special X-factor”.

Auckland Tourism Events and Economic Development is aiming to double the contribution from the visitor economy, growing it to $6 billion by 2021.

The other cities on the list are: Paris, Trinidad (Cuba), Cape Town, Riga (Latvia), Zurich, Shanghai, Vancouver, Chicago and Adelaide.

New Zealand ‘easy’ route for people-smugglers

People smugglers in Indonesia are reportedly touting New Zealand as “an easier route” to asylum seekers to get around Australia’s tough deterrents for boat arrivals.

Secret audio recordings heard by Fairfax Media reveal smugglers are telling customers that New Zealand is now a better option and can be reached either in shipping containers or by air.

Until now, New Zealand has never had a mass arrival of asylum seekers.

Sources in Cisarua in West Java say about a dozen people smugglers remain active and are increasingly desperate in their search for customers. Most have given up trying to send people in wooden boats because of the Papua New Guinea and Nauru policies implemented by Australia’s hard line.

Shipping containers have been used often in the past to smuggle people, particularly into Europe. But in a number of cases, people have died by suffocation or dehydration on the way.

The revelation comes as Australian Immigration Minister Scott Morrison prepares for an official visit to Indonesia this week for bilateral talks with the Indonesian Co-ordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs, Djoko Suyanto.

Potential asylum seekers in Cisarua have confirmed that smugglers called Muzahair, Haji Ismail, Farhan and Muhammad Ali have all offered the container ship service to New Zealand for prices ranging between $US8000 ($9600) and $US14,000 a person.

They refer to the container ship as the “cruise ship” option.

One smuggler has promised that the passengers will spend only about nine hours sealed in the container before it is opened, allowing them to roam the deck.

“Many people in Cisarua have already given $3000 to the smuggler Farhan, plus $5000 to [a trusted third party money-keeper], and in one or three weeks, I think this ship will go,” an asylum seeker source said.

Fairfax Media has heard secretly-recorded audio of smuggler Ali saying that for $US9000 a person, he could send Afghan people by air from Jakarta to West Papua, then in a container to New Zealand.

“New Zealand is very clean . . . Everything is better than Australia, the only problem is just unemployment . . . New Zealand is a golden opportunity. You can take your mother, your brother, all of your family after proving they are in danger, too,” Ali is heard saying.

Smugglers are telling customers the immigration law in New Zealand is open and easy compared with Australia, and that they can achieve permanent residency after 45 days. But in anticipation of these problems, New Zealand recently toughened its immigration law to allow a court to order six months’ detention for people who come in a “mass arrival” of 30 or more. Asylum seekers need to wait three years and be reassessed before they can apply for permanent residency.

 

“People smugglers who are disseminating a message that it is easy to obtain permanent residence in New Zealand are wrong,” said a spokesman from the New Zealand embassy in Jakarta. “There has never been a mass arrival . . . the New Zealand Government is aware of the possibility and remains vigilant.”

Some smugglers are still trying to sell places on traditional-style boats, but the price has dropped dramatically.

One, Abdullah, has told people in Cisarua that he has 50 or 60 customers ready to sail to Australia. Another, Reza Kord, insists he will also send a boat by the end of the month. In a secretly recorded phone conversation, he insists to a man posing as an agent that “the way is open now” to Australia.

However, Kord has been recorded agreeing to send people for just $US2300, far below the $US6000 of just 12 months ago. He also insists it’s not his problem if people are then sent to Papua New Guinea or Nauru.

On the recording, Kord also spells out exactly how he would fly people to Australia for $US13,000, saying $11,000 of that is to pay corrupt Indonesian immigration officials at Jakarta airport.

“After takeoff they should go to the toilet and cut the passports up. After landing in the plane, he shouldn’t go to the line in immigration, he should hide himself, for example, in the toilet, for two or three hours, because three or four flights come and enter to Australia in that time,” Kord is recorded saying.

“After that he can reveal himself to immigration and claim refugee status. They’ll ask him which flight did you enter here? Where is your passport? If they find out which flight you have come here on, they can return you.”

Morrison said the Australian Government would “not comment on information or intelligence it might have received”.
