Dida já ajudou o Corinthians a ser campeão do mundo nos pênaltis. Foi em 2000. Desta vez, em 2013, coube ao goleiro tirar do Timão a vaga à semifinal da Copa do Brasil. Também nos pênaltis. Ao seu melhor estilo. Porque, aos 40 anos, Dida não é velho. E, sim, foi o velho Dida. E classificou o Grêmio na noite desta quarta-feira, na Arena, após mais um 0 a 0 no tempo normal – assim como fora na ida, no Pacaembu. Pegou três cobranças, sendo a última de Alexandre Pato, em cavadinha fracassada: 3 a 2 em tiros da marca da cal.

O rival da semifinal é o Atlético-PR, que eliminou o Inter na Vila Capanema com empate sem gols. Ainda não há data definida. Sabe-se, no entanto, que a ida será em Curitiba e a volta, em Porto Alegre.

Antes, porém, há o retorno ao Brasileirão. No domingo, às 16h, o Corinthians recebe o Santos. O Grêmio, no mesmo dia, às 18h30m, desafia o Coritiba, em solo paranaense.

Faltou inspiração

Equilibrado em campo, desequilibrado nos números. O primeiro tempo sem gols foi assim: muita marcação, poucas chances de gols. O Grêmio teve maior posse de bola (56% a 44%), mais finalizações (7 a 2), mais escanteios (6 a 1, todos mal cobrados por Alex Telles) e mais jogadas pela lateral (6 a 1) e… não conseguiu superar o sistema defensivo adversário, o menos vazado do Brasileirão, talvez o único mérito de uma campanha irregular.

Verdade que o Timão, sem Cássio e Guerrero e com Emerson no banco, começou melhor. Um chute desviado de Fábio Santos deu pinta de melhora na comparação com as atuações anteriores. Entretanto, a dificuldade de atacar se manteve. O Tricolor assentou a marcação e, sem Werley e com a manutenção de Vargas no 4-3-3, tomou conta da partida. Em três escanteios seguidos, inflou a torcida. Mas era difícil ingressar na área. Tanto que se descuidou e, em uma escapada de Douglas, Dida fez importante intervenção.

Nessa lógica, sem criatividade na armação, apenas uma jogada individual poderia desequilibrar. Aconteceu. Pará descobriu Kleber na área. O atacante bateu cruzado, Walter deu rebote. Vargas, livre, entre a pequena área e a marca do pênalti, exagerou na fora e chutou por cima. A grande chance foi desperdiçada.

Corinthians melhora, mas zero persiste

O segundo tempo começou com a mesma superioridade tricolor. A diferença foi a intensidade. As chances de gols criadas. Por momentos, o Timão sequer passou do meio do campo. Em 12 minutos, duas chances. A primeira, de Kleber, ao cabecear cruzamento de Barcos, obrigou Walter a uma grande defesa. Ramiro descobriu o Pirata, na segunda, que bateu cruzado para fora.

À medida que o tempo passava e, com a igualdade, a decisão iria aos pênaltis, o nervosismo aumentou. Tite sacou Douglas, apostou em Danilo. Emerson na vaga de Guilherme. Renato manteve a formação. E a torcida entrou em campo: criou clima à lá Olímpico.

O Timão ameaçou, aos 30, em falta batida por Emerson. O Grêmio respondeu aos 37, novamente com Vargas. O chileno entrou sozinho e bateu no pé da trave. O tempo normal terminou com uma confusão protagonizada por Vargas e Emerson. Ambos foram expulsos. O chileno havia feito falta em Sheik, e tentou levantá-lo. O camisa 11 do Corinthians se revoltou, pediu que o gremista não encostasse nele e quase começou uma confusão. Paulo Godoy Bezerra não teve dúvidas e mandou a dupla embora. Fim de papo. Início dos pênaltis.

E não é que a sina de seca de gols perdurou? Walter pegou o primeiro pênalti, de Barcos. Dida respondeu à altura em cobrança de Danilo. Alex Telles deu na trave, em chute que rebateu no goleiro e quase entrou. Romarinho, enfim, presentou o confronto com um gol. Pará bateu mal, Walter espalmou, mas… gol. Dida empatou tudo ao brecar tiro de Edenilson. Elano e Alessandro converteram a quarta série. Kleber marcou o quinto. A última bola estava com Alexandre Pato. Diante do ex-companheiro de Milan. Melhor para o goleiro, que agarrou a fracassada cavadinha. Grêmio classificado.

Botafogo é humilhado pelo Flamengo e está eliminado da Copa do Brasil Perdição 2013

Maracanã e Hernane têm uma relação muito íntima. É como uma atração incontrolável. A bola parece ter um ímã que a faz procurar a chuteira do atacante. E mesmo que pare na perna que não é a boa, que o chute saia mascado, ou mesmo venha pelo alto, não tem jeito, a rede balança. Com o pé esquerdo e de cabeça, o Brocador fez três gols na vitória por 4 a 0 do Flamengo sobre o Botafogo na noite desta quarta-feira – Léo Moura marcou o outro, de pênalti. Na comemoração, Hernane fez um sinal como se jogasse o coração para a torcida. Os rubro-negros agradecem: o time está classificado para a semifinal da Copa do Brasil. Como a outra partida terminou 1 a 1, a vitória garantia a vaga neste que foi o primeiro encontro dos rivais na competição nacional.

Em campo o Flamengo foi superior, soube explorar bem as jogadas pelo lado esquerdo do campo, principalmente com Paulinho. Contou com a sorte no primeiro gol, é verdade, mas taticamente foi melhor. Quando Dória cometeu pênalti em Hernane e foi expulso, Léo Moura, aniversariante do dia, fechou o placar. A parte vermelha e preta dos 59.848 torcedores presentes (50.505 pagantes) no estádio já gritavam “olé”.

– Emoção muito grande. Sempre que entro é para fazer o meu melhor e ter esse carinho retribuído dentro do Maracanã. E numa vitória por 4 a 0, vai ser inesquecível – vibrou Léo Moura.

Os alvinegros não esperavam a derrota, muito menos da maneira que aconteceu.

– Ninguém esperava esse placar elástico, não fizemos um jogo para tomar de 4 a 0. A gente vinha jogando bem, mas depois do primeiro gol o time não se encontrou. Foi contra-ataque em cima de contra-ataque e eles aproveitaram as oportunidades – disse Jefferson.

Agora o Fla aguarda o vencedor do confronto entre Vasco e Goiás. As equipes se enfrentam na quinta-feira, às 21h, no Maracanã. O primeiro jogo foi 2 a 1 para os goianos. Antes de voltar a pensar na Copa do Brasil, porém, o time encara a Portuguesa, domingo, às 16h, no Castelão, pelo Campeonato Brasileiro. Concentrado somente no Brasileirão, o Botafogo recebe o Atlético-MG, sábado, às 18h30m, no Maracanã.

O caminho é pela esquerda

Quis Jayme de Almeida que Paulinho caísse mais pelo lado esquerdo. Quis também que Luiz Antonio atuasse mais por aquele lado para ajudar na marcação quando André Santos fosse ao ataque. Deu certo. Não deu foi para Gilberto. Substituto do suspenso Edilson, o lateral-direito sofreu. Paulinho costumava voltar até o meio de campo para buscar a bola, e quando atacava se garantia no drible ou na velocidade. Já havia ele próprio driblado dois adversários antes de chutar para a defesa de Jefferson.

Mas o esforço do atacante não seria recompensado com gol. No Maracanã parece que há um decreto: no estádio, gol do Flamengo é com o Hernane. É tão impressionante essa simbiose com o estádio, que mesmo em uma jogada que parece perdida, ela para nos pés do Brocador. Marcelo Mattos tentou afastar, acertou Rafael Marques e Hernane fez.

É preciso ressaltar que no segundo gol a jogada foi toda de Paulinho até o goleiro adversário espalmar para o meio. Aí não importa se o chute não é com o pé bom, se a bola toca na grama antes. Na sobra, Hernane marcou.

O Botafogo, atordoado, encontrava dificuldade para criar chances. O 4-2-3-1 dessa vez não funcionava. Rafael Marques, único atacante, voltava. E quanto voltava geralmente um dos três meias (Seedorf, Gegê e Lodeiro) se posicionava na frente. A falta de uma referência pesou.

Artilheiro do Maracanã quer mais

Oswaldo de Oliveira viu que havia um problema sério para segurar a bola no campo ofensivo. Trocou o volante Marcelo Mattos pelo atacante Sassá para dar mais volume ao time na frente. Surtiu efeito. O time começou a ameaçar mais. Atrás é que nada parecia mudar. Gilberto não desgrudava de Paulinho. André Santos não estava nem aí para o embate. Pegou  pela esquerda, cruzou, e a bola procura: gol de cabeça de Hernane, o 31º na temporada, o 14º no Maracanã – é o artilheiro do estádio desde a sua reabertura.

O nervosismo tomou conta dos alvinegros. Na arquibancada alguns torcedores começaram a deixar o estádio. E os que ficaram ouviam um sonoro “olé” vindo do lado rubro-negro. Taticamente dava sinais de desorganização. Existia um buraco, bem aproveitado quando Carlos Eduardo tocou na frente para Hernane. Tinha tudo para ser o quarto gol, mas Dória o empurrou na área, cometeu o pênalti e foi expulso. De presente, o Brocador entregou a bola para o aniversariante do dia Leonardo Moura cobrar e fazer o quarto.

Os botafoguenses que ainda acreditavam, começaram a ir embora com 27 minutos. O som vindo do outro lado era cada vez mais provocador. Sem muito o que fazer, o Botafogo passou a esperar o Flamengo para ter a posse no momento certo, pois a inferioridade numérica e ausência de um zagueiro e com apenas um volante, pediam cautela. Enquanto isso, os rubro-negros pediam: “mais um, mais um”. O gol não saiu, mas a noite estava completa para eles. Teve até parabéns para Léo Moura quando o árbitro apitou o fim da partida.

Army exercise caused blaze in Blue Montains

 

An army training exercise caused a massive fire in the Blue Mountains that ripped through more than 47,000 hectares of bushland last week, a Rural Fire Service investigation has found.

The Defence Department initially refused to comment except to say its own investigation into an explosives training exercise at the Marrangaroo training area, north of Lithgow, was ongoing.

A Rural Fire Service spokesman said of the blaze which before Wednesday had destroyed three homes, damaged one other and burnt down seven sheds or businesses.

But the RFS on Wednesday confirmed the fire began on the Australian Defence Force range and was sparked by explosive devices. ”That was the result of our investigation,” an RFS spokesman said.

The Defence Department released a statement on Wednesday saying it was aware of the Rural Fire Services view and the department continued to ”co-operate fully with NSW authorities investigating the State Mine fire, including the NSW Police Force investigators who will prepare a report for the Coroner”.

There was no total fire ban in the area when the Defence exercised were conducted.

Acting Defence Minister George Brandis says he’s spoken to the Acting Chief of the Defence Force, Air Marshal Mark Binskin, about the matter.

”The Australian government and the Australian Defence Force take this issue very seriously and continue to fully cooperate with the New South Wales authorities, including the New South Wales Police, who are investigating the fire,” Senator Brandis said in a statement.

Senator Brandis extended his thoughts and prayers to the people of NSW affected by the fires, and says the federal government is doing ”everything it can” to help NSW authorities bring the blazes under control.

Fairfax Media can also reveal that army ranges across Australia are failing to develop bushfire plans in accordance with Defence rules. A source with close knowledge of army training area management said Defence brass knew of the shortcomings in setting up bushfire plans but had not acted because of a lack of resources.

”There is just an amazingly casual approach to the whole thing, with no mitigation plans in place at all,” the source, who requested anonymity, said. ”They have known for a couple of years that these plans don’t exist but they don’t do anything about it because there is no money. They are supposed to have site-specific fire management plans.”

Army personnel who expressed concern about the lack of fire management plans had been told ”don’t worry … we will get to it”, the source said. But leaked internal Defence correspondence, seen by Fairfax Media, indicates that Defence’s Directorate of Training Area Management knew that ranges across Australia had failed to implement bushfire plans, even though such plans were demanded in a 2011 fire protection manual.

Even the use of basic measures like creating fire breaks had been inconsistent, the source said. Chapter seven of the Training Area Management Manual states that ”the nature of Defence activities carries an inherent risk of starting [bushfires] … and there must be a site bushfire management plan”. These are supposed to include emergency response plans and bushfire awareness training for personnel.

Fairfax Media has confirmed that Defence also started a bushfire at the weekend in South Australia through an explosives exercise. A spokesman for the South Australian Country Fire Service confirmed that Defence had been responsible for starting a fire at the Cultana training area, south of Port Augusta, on Saturday and that it was ”part of an exercise”.

CFS crews had to send two bulk water carriers to battle the fire that took hold of scrubland within the army range but quickly brought it under control.

The training area manual states that ”commanders are to balance the urgency of any planned live-fire activities against the level of risk of starting a wildfire or bushfire”.

The rules on when live-fire exercises can be carried out are unclear. One section states that they should not be carried out without ”an authorised operational imperative” if the fire danger is at a ”high” level or above. A different section says they should not be conducted when there is a total fire ban.

De acordo com o jornal O Globo, o motivo teria sido a gravidez de Regiane de seu primeiro filho. Com isso, e após diversos testes, o papel teria ficado com Tainá Müller, que fará par romântico com Giovanna Antonelli.

 

A atriz está, atualmente, no ar em “Sangue Bom”.

Carro da Rede Record é alvo de manifestantes no Rio de Janeiro

Emissora teve repórter agredida e carro queimado.

Durante a cobertura dos protestos contra o leilão do pré-sal, a Record foi alvo de manifestantes. Uma repórter da emissora, que estava no local, foi agredida. Além disso, um carro do canal foi virado e, depois, queimado.

 

Segundo o jornalista Daniel Castro, a repórter Aline Pacheco sofreu um forte empurrão enquanto cobria a manifestação. Os black blocs, então, viraram o carro da Record e começaram a jogar paus e pedras. Um princípio de incêndio no carro começou, mas o corpo de bombeiros impediu que ele se espalhasse.

‘Mini-tornado’ rips through Ararat as storm cells cross Victoria

 

Homes have been damaged after huge winds gusts described as a “mini-tornado” ripped through Ararat, in the state’s central west, overnight.

Several homes, sheds and the local Mitre 10 store have been damaged.

The mini-tornado hit about 7.40pm, with the central street of McLellan Street worst hit.

 

“We’ve had tiles blown of roofs and a fair bit of fencing has been knocked down.”

The State Emergency Service responded to 80 calls for help across Victoria overnight as several intense storm cells moved across the state.

While Ararat and the Alpine peaks copped the worst of the wind, heavy rain soaked most regions.

Wilsons Promontory was lashed by 14.8 millimetres of rain in just half an hour from 4am on Wednesday, contributing to a total of 63mm in the past 24 hours.

Mount Hotham [63.4mm], Port Fairy [61.4mm] and Portland [54mm] have also recorded big totals.

Central Melbourne has had 13.6mm, with 17.2mm at Essendon Airport.

Severe weather warnings were removed on Wednesday morning, although more rain and moderate winds are expected in most areas, including the city.

Sunday is the only day in the next week not expected to feature showers.

Treasurer Joe Hockey ramps up debt limit

Treasurer Joe Hockey has responded to Australia’s ballooning credit card bill by almost doubling the borrowing limit to half a trillion dollars.

In an extraordinary move at odds with repeated Coalition warnings of a debt crisis spiralling out of control under the previous Labor government, Mr Hockey has announced the debt ceiling of $300 billion would be increased in a single leap, to $500 billion.

Cabinet approved the new limit on Tuesday and it will be legislated when Parliament returns next month.

Cabinet also approved the terms of reference and personnel for its long-promised commission of audit of government spending, with Mr Hockey arguing it would do the work of winding back the debt.

In a decision certain to raise concerns over its level of influence over government policy, the audit will be headed by Tony Shepherd, the president of the most influential lobby group for the big end of town, the Business Council of Australia.

Also on the board will be former Howard government minister Amanda Vanstone, former top public servant Peter Boxall, former Treasury secretary Tony Cole and former West Australian bureaucrat Robert Fisher.

The composition of the audit and tight timelines of less than six months have fuelled concerns of a sharp contraction of some programs. Mr Shepherd’s organisation has previously advocated radical business-friendly policies such as increases to the GST.

Economists say the debt limit is not, of itself expected to affect Australia’s AAA credit rating but simply reflects the reality that during a global downturn government spending has necessarily exceeded revenues.

However, the scope of the new borrowing limit has prompted speculation that the government may be planning extra borrowings to fund large ”off-budget” infrastructure projects, mirroring the

way the national broadband network has been financed.

Labor finance spokesman Tony Burke slammed the government for proposing to increase the limit before providing the Mid-Year Economic and Fiscal Outlook report. ”The party that said they were all about turning around debt has now asked for permission for it to go to half a trillion dollars,” he said.

Mr Hockey blamed the radical increase on ”the legacy of a bad Labor government”. He said it had been made necessary because the present debt limit would have been reached by December 12 on the way to an overall debt of about $400 billion over the four-year budget period.

By its own admission, the government wants to jack up the limit once only, thereby removing the need to bring another debt ceiling rise to the Parliament closer to the next election.

Insiders said the prospect of trying to convince ”economically illiterate” independent senators of the need for the increase might have been a consideration.

In an unusually brief news conference, Mr Hockey offered no detailed explanation of the debt increase. ”We are increasing it to that level because I’ve been advised that on 12 December the current debt limit of $300 billion will be hit,” he said.

”We need to move quickly to deal with this, particularly in the wake of what’s been revealed in the United States in recent times.

”We need to put it beyond any doubt and we do not want to have to revisit this issue again. We’ve been advised it will now exceed $400 billion on current trends.”

The last debt ceiling increase was just a quarter of the new increase, at $50 billion.

Mr Hockey said it was important to have what he called ”a buffer of $40 [billion] to $60 billion to provide stability to the issuer, the AOFM [Australian Office of Financial Management]”.

”We have decided to go to $500 billion. This is the legacy of a bad Labor government and this is part of the job that we have to fix.”

Market Economics managing director Stephen Koukoulas said the decision was valid because contrary to the bellicose rhetoric of the Coalition before the election, Australia ”did not have a debt crisis then, and does not have one now”.

Mr Hockey brushed off concerns that the government’s promised commission of audit would be overly influenced by the BCA.

Finance Minister Mathias Cormann said the audit would report quickly, with phase 1 (examining efficiency and effectiveness of spending) delivered to the government by January and phase 2 (looking at public sector performance) reporting by March.

Mr Burke said the announcements were a breach of promise. ”What Joe Hockey is now doing on both the commission of cuts and on the issue of the debt ceiling is a million miles away from the expectations he gave the Australian people before the election.”

Ahmadi: Mut wurde belohnt

 

Es war einer dieser Momente, die wie in Zeitlupe ablaufen. Als der Ball am gegnerischen Sechzehner den Fuß von Sandjar Ahmadi verließ, fieberte ein ganzes Land mit und wünschte sich im Stadion oder vor dem Fernseher mit weit aufgerissenen Augen, dass das Runde seinen Weg ins Eckige findet. Als die Kugel knapp unter der Latte das Netz zum Wackeln brachte, gab es nicht nur für Afghanistans Nummer elf kein Halten mehr, sondern eine ganze Nation wurde vom Fussballfieber gepackt.

Nach dem 2:0-Erfolg über Indien im Finale der Südasienmeisterschaft rief Präsident Hamid Karsai einen Nationalfeiertag aus. Doch es wäre vielleicht gar nicht so weit gekommen, wenn der spätere Torheld nicht schon im Voraus des Turniers eine mutige Entscheidung getroffen hätte.

Ahmadi hatte gerade einen Ausbildungsplatz in Hamburg angenommen und war erst ein paar Wochen im Job. Als eine Anfrage der afghanischen Nationalmannschaft ins Haus trudelte, siegte erst die Vernunft über die Leidenschaft und er entschied sich gegen den Sport. Allerdings konnte sich der Vollblutfussballer, der seit seiner Kindheit immer nur das Ziel hatte Profisportler zu werden, nie so richtig mit dem Entschluss, nicht für sein Land aufzulaufen, anfreunden. Kurz vor dem ersten Spiel bei der Südasienmeisterschaft im nepalesischen Kathmandu kam dann der Sinneswandel und es folgte eine Entscheidung, die weitreichende Folgen haben sollte: “Zwei Tage vor dem Länderspiel habe ich mich entschieden, trotzdem zur Nationalmannschaft zu reisen, egal was passiert!”

Eine gute Entscheidung
Gesagt, getan – Ahmadi kam gerade noch rechtzeitig am ersten Spieltag an. Was dann geschah, hätte sich der Angreifer vorher wohl noch nicht einmal zu erträumen gewagt. Der 21-Jährige führte den krassen Außenseiter Afghanistan mit Toren im Halbfinale gegen Gastgeber Nepal und im Finale zum Titel – ein Fussballmärchen. Kickte Ahmadi nur wenige Tage zuvor noch auf Hamburgs Amateursportplätzen in der fünften Liga für den TuS Dassendorf vor 500 Zuschauern, wurde er zurück in seinem Heimatland im Ghazi-Nationalstadion von 30.000 frenetischen Fans für das Erringen des größten Erfolgs in der afghanischen Fussballgeschichte gefeiert.

“Als wir den Pokal nach Hause gebracht haben, sind die Leute durchgedreht. Alle haben sich gefreut und die Straßen waren voller Menschenmassen. Tausende haben meinen Namen gerufen, sie wollten einen anfassen oder küssen. Ich konnte nicht ohne Polizei oder ohne Begleitung  alleine auf die Straße”, beschreibt Ahmadi, bei dem jetzt sogar regelmäßig Heiratsanträge ins Haus flattern, immer noch völlig überwältigt, den Ausnahmezustand in seinem Heimatland.

Als der neue Volksheld zurück nach Deutschland kam, wurde er allerdings schnell wieder auf den harten Boden der Realität geholt. Ahmadi verlor seine gerade erst angenommene Ausbildungsstelle. Auf der einen Seite war er weiterhin berauscht vom gerade Erlebten, auf der anderen Seite schlichen sich Zukunftsängste hinzu. Wenige Tage später sollte sich die Gefühlswelt aber wieder völlig auf den Kopf stellen. Sein sehenswerter Heber im Finale sowie das goldene Tor im Halbfinale gegen Nepal hatte auch der Mumbai FC aus der ersten indischen Fussballliga registriert und war gewillt, sich die Dienste des Stürmers, der bisher in 18 Einsätzen im Nationaldress acht Treffer erzielte, zu sichern. Da war sie nun also, die so sehr ersehnte Chance, den Schritt in den bezahlten Fussball zu schaffen.

Ein Traum wird wahr
Nach ein paar Einreiseschwierigkeiten – aufgrund von Problemen mit dem Visum – konnte der in Kabul geborene Ahmadi sein Abenteuer I-League beginnen. Als Ahmadi aus dem Flieger stieg, wehte ihm gleich die erste Auffälligkeit um die Nase. “Das Klima ist hier völlig anders als in Deutschland, daran muss ich mich erst noch gewöhnen.”

Untergebracht ist er in einer komfortablen Wohnung, die er sich mit seinem Kapitän aus der Nationalmannschaft, Haroon Amiri, teilt. “Dass Haroon hier ist, hilft mir natürlich sehr und hat mich auch bei der nicht leichten Entscheidung nach Indien, so weit weg von der Familie und Zuhause, zu wechseln bestärkt”, so die zukünftige Nummer neun des Mumbai FC.

Nach den ersten Trainingseinheiten zeigt sich der Neuzugang glücklich und ist begeistert, wie freundlich ihn alle aufnehmen. Auch wenn der Fussball in Indien im Schatten vom Nationalsport Cricket steht, berichtet Ahmadi: “Der Fussball ist hier nicht wie in Europa, aber es gibt durchaus Spiele, wo die Stadien gut gefüllt sind und ich meinen Traum vom Fussballprofi wirklich ausleben kann.”

Und wer weiß, wann die nächste große Entscheidung auf Sandjar Ahmadi zukommt – und ob das Märchen nicht noch weitere spannende Kapitel für ihn bereit hält.
